Reanalysis led by NRES faculty Kevin Shoemaker finds flaws in research underpinning the recent listing decision for Gopher Tortoises.
Our recently published letter shows that a major 2022 decision by USFWS - that the Gopher Tortoise is "not warranted" for listing across most of its range- was at least partially based on a flawed population model:
