Knicks lose to the Magic 111-102. Only three games in, sure. But it's ok to say they need a hard look in the mirror. This does not look like the same team from the last season. Here are 10 observations from last night: 1. Championship hangover is in full effect. Another game they let go of because of their own mistakes. Continuity that won them a title already feels long gone. 2. Karl-Anthony Towns has been the best and most consistent player on the team so far. Scoring at all levels, playmaking hub, rebounding, solid defense. He's showing up every night. 3. OG stays OG. Consistent, reliable, and the Knicks defense is at its best when he's locked on their best player. 4. Brunson is shooting inefficiently and made some silly turnovers down the stretch. It's to the point where I wonder if he's either fully recovered from his wrist surgery, or if he just didn't get enough time to prepare for the season. 5. Bridges needs to get out of his own head and be more aggressive. He's throwing up bricks and pretty much just running cardio at this point. 6. They need real scoring off the bench. Kolek was a great distributor and brought the energy, but no one is consistently scoring. Knicks are 2nd to last in bench points so far. 7. Perimeter defense and rotations were atrocious. So many open threes. You cannot gift that many clean looks and expect to hold a lead, this was the real difference maker. 8. Silly turnovers down the stretch. Same story as the first two losses. They start solid, fail to adapt to second-half adjustments, then crumble. 9. Blew it in the fourth. Locked Franz Wagner down for most of the night and then let him take the game over when it mattered. 10. Mike Brown's lineups in the fourth were questionable. Up 10 and he pulls KAT instead of stepping on their throat, then puts Wiseman in. We need a win, not more experimentation. Honorable mention: Last night they should have had the ball in KAT's hands to close out the game. they had no answer for him. Brunson is our guy but at the same time we should feed the hot hand and not force the issue.
