Also this at the bottom of the article: 'This proposal has been developed jointly by Mustafa Suleyman, Eric Schmidt, Dario Amodei, Ian Bremmer, Tino Cuéllar, Reid Hoffman, Jason Matheny, Philip Zelikow'. Am I missing something here? What happened to female/non-binary AI experts?
Sorry, but we don't need international governance institutions to understand the risks of AI, or to delay national policy solutions. The last 20 years of academic research, advocacy, and media reporting tells us more than enough about the risks of AI. ft.com/content/d84e91d0-ac74…

This is such a brilliant and creative way to raise awareness of the risks that social media platforms and their algorithms present, well done @panoptykon @szymielewicz!

Finally back here after some time offline. In case you missed it, I shared my thoughts on building a more participatory & transparent data future for London. Thank you @LOTI_LDN @SamANutt for having me on the @londondataweek Advisory Board this year!

5⃣Every public sector body in London should have data and AI ethics embedded in their daily operations & employ designated data ethicists to support decision-making in every organisation

6⃣London boroughs should creatively harness the skills of their residents by supporting local digital entrepreneurs, organising open brainstorming events, hackathons, problem-solving marathons, challenge funds & other opportunities for people to share their innovative ideas

‘More than 500 citizens’ assemblies have informed policymaking in recent years, with permanent citizens’ councils now in place in Paris, London and Ostbelgien, Belgium’ - great read (especially for those new to the concept) and reflections from @ClaudiaChwalisz & @petermacleod
Citizens’ assemblies: are they the future of democracy? by @EvaTalmadge We believe citizens’ assemblies are one great way to build a more vibrant democracy, where everyone can shape a world that works for us all Spot the quote from @ClaudiaChwalisz 👀 theguardian.com/us-news/2023…

Incredible to see that 9 European cities will be sharing the info on their #AI use in a format similar to the UK Algorithmic Transparency Standard🎉. This kind of collaboration & standardisation is exactly what I was hoping for when starting this work in the UK back in late 2020
Over the past half year, a group of Eurocities member cities have developed a free to use and shareable data schema for #AI registries. It helps explain the use of #ArtificialIntelligence systems by government organisations. 🤖🏛️ 👉 eurocities.eu/latest/nine-ci…

This is such an important perspective for those working in AI ethics - @adrienneandgp, @MilagrosMiceli, @timnitGebru call for a holistic understanding of AI ethics that would include initiatives to stop exploitation in the AI industry
“Far from the sophisticated, sentient machines portrayed in pop culture, so-called AI systems are fueled by millions of underpaid workers, performing repetitive tasks under precarious labor conditions.” — @adrienneandgp, @milagrosmiceli & @timnitGebru noemamag.com/the-exploited-l…
