Tonight, I’m thinking about Justice Murray Sinclair and of the times that I was lucky enough to hear him speak about his work with the TRC. This moment stands out for me. It’s his answer when he was asked, “Why can’t you just get over it?”
Congratulations to @IndigiNewsMedia publisher Eden Fineday on winning the @JackWebsterFdn “City Mic” award for commentator of the year. Insightful, penetrating, passionate writing. Brava!

"The First Nations Leadership Council is extremely concerned that B.C. Conservative Leader John Rustad has stated his intent to repeal the UN Declaration if elected in the upcoming provincial election."
UNDRIP is the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous People. It provides a framework for reconciliation, healing and peace, as well as harmonious and cooperative relations based on the principles of justice, democracy, respect for human rights, non-discrimination and good faith.
This is a framework that has given reconciliation and Indigenous people, as well as allies, hope that our governments have actual intention to move forward together in collaboration and healing.
I am so proud that our BC NDP government adopted UNDRIP by bringing in the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act.
A vote for John Rustad's Conservatives is very clearly a vote against a framework of reconciliation and healing together.
This attempt to segregate the Indigenous voters from the rest of the province is unacceptable and dangerous. This is a strategy that we've seen before, and it was in a time period that we do not wish to return to.
This is a risk we can not afford.
This hurts people, not helps them.
As we celebrate UNDRIP today, John Rustad's commitment to repealing BC's own Act is deplorable. This attempt to divide FNs against others won't work. We are stronger together and John Rustad as a former Minister should know better. #bcpoli

Just finished “Unreconciled” by the brilliant and brave @jessewente A compelling & unsettling read. Highly recommended, especially for fellow settlers with hearts open to Indigenous truth-telling. Looking forward to your keynote at @CTFFCE conference next month!

Wow. A big tip of the Stetson to Jon Stewart. A master class in the art of a news making interview.
Jon interviewed Leslie Rutledge, Arkansas Attorney General, about why her state banned gender-affirming care for minors - ignoring the guidelines of major medical organizations and taking the decision out of parents’ hands. Watch the full interview on @AppleTVPlus
