An Army veteran has reportedly been turned away from a Wetherspoon pub in Gosport for wearing a poppy.
Footage has emerged of a British Army veteran being refused entry to The Star. A member of staff tells him the poppy is “political” and that he will not be served while wearing it.
The incident is alleged to have taken place in Gosport, a town currently grappling with anti-immigration protests.
In footage shared on Facebook, a doorman can be heard saying: “Really sorry mate, you can’t come in with a poppy I’m afraid. It’s political.”
He tells the veteran he can re-enter if he removes the poppy and puts it in his pocket, but warns him not to put it back on inside or he will be asked to leave and refused service.
A Wetherspoon spokesperson said: “Wetherspoon has long been a supporter of the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal, with poppies for sale in our pubs, including The Star. There is no ban on poppies in Wetherspoon pubs.”

Denis travelled alone and in comfort as far as Reading when "all these chaps piled in", accompanied by a male nurse, who counted them before the train moved off.
'One, two, three, four ... who are you?"
"I'm the Prime Minister's husband."
"Six, seven, eight, nine..."
There's a cat in this and it's trying to get the fuck out of any and every person that tries to hold it.
Did I ever tell you, chaps, that when I was suffering from a high fever as a result of an infection I got after open-heart surgery, I hallucinated that I was in hell and that the Devil was...
