Incredible thread by @NationhoodRC. I encourage anyone who wants to know more about John McEntee to read it.
🐘The GOP’s 2028 dark horse might be a 36-year-old former quarterback you’ve never heard of. He left Fox News to work for free on Trump’s long-shot 2016 campaign, and by 29 he was in charge of political appointments in the executive branch. Today he’s an Irish American with millions of young followers and an insider’s knowledge of Washington. This is the story of John McEntee 🧵

This guy’s story is unbelivable! As an European who deeply follows American politics, I think the future should pass by somebody like John McEntee! 🐎

In Jan 2025, I wrote that Trump 2.0 was already over. I warned Irish nationalists not to jump on that global Trumpian band wagon as it would be incredibly short-sided and disastrous in the long-term. In June 2025, I wrote that Mamdani’s win represented the first sign of a bigger trend of left populism that could beat out right populism. The combination of this positive trend with the Trump 2.0 negative trend would be bad. Now, the midterms proved exactly what I predicted. Trump 2.0 right populism got rekt and left populism made gains. I foresee that Europe will go the same way. If anyone in the Irish populist right thought they would make electoral gains or receive meaningful material support off of cozying up to the Trump 2.0 sphere then they were severely mistaken.

What came next was classic Trump in retrospect. He turned on the project, turning against the very people who believed in his America First vision. “I know nothing about Project 2025,” Trump said, calling parts of it “absolutely ridiculous and abysmal.” His campaign managers, Susie Wiles and Chris LaCivita, said it should not be associated with him “in any way.” Then they won, and the plan they had disowned got picked apart for parts. Its policies and some of its authors made it into the administration, but the people who knew how to staff a government and make the Washington machine deliver were left out. McEntee, who had already run the personnel office once and spent years preparing to do it again, was passed over. Wiles, the campaign manager who had run from the plan, became Chief of Staff. The failures of this Admin show us an obvious mistake was made.

This week, the reckoning arrived. Republicans lost the House. They lost the Senate. In Texas, a Democrat beat Ken Paxton despite $224 million from Elon Musk to save him. Kansas sent a Democrat to the Senate for the first time in decades. Trump’s approval among midterm voters was just 38%, and 89% said the cost of living drove their vote. Voters didn’t change their minds about what they want, they gave up waiting for the GOP to deliver on their promises. The Trump administration has spent two years fighting a foreign war while families fought over grocery bills. It's clear that if the Republicans want a political future in the United States, they need people who know how the machine works and never forget who it’s meant to serve. A potential Irish American dark horse for 2028? Time will tell ⏳

Young people continue to flee Ireland in massive numbers The Repeal the 8th leadership promised to end young people leaving our shores, with promises of a new abortutopia But they have made the problem worse
🇮🇪 Ireland is losing its young again. Irish citizens emigrating, year to April: 2020: 25,000 2025: 35,000 That's up 40%, yet the Irish government continues to pour resources into supporting foreigners arriving in Ireland.

🚨 Influential Irish American Catholic organisation the Ancient order of Hibernians have REBUKED former journalist and later President of Ireland Mary McAleese for her BIZARRE comments on Baptism McAleese claims in a new book that baptism is against the 'rights' of a child as they do not 'consent' AOH Chairman Sean Pender has called it 'offensive nonsense': "The Ancient Order of Hibernians expresses its profound disappointment over recent remarks by former Irish President Mary McAleese asserting that infant baptism constitutes a violation of children's human rights. While Dr. McAleese is entitled to her personal opinions, her comments are fundamentally misguided and deeply insulting to Catholic parents who choose to raise their families in accordance with their faith. The brand of secularism masquerading as liberalism reflected in these statements is neither tolerant nor inclusive. Instead, it demonstrates an increasing contempt for religious belief and a complete detachment from the values held by ordinary people. To suggest that mothers and fathers who present their children for baptism are committing a “human rights violation” is offensive nonsense. More egregiously, it devalues the term “human rights violation.” Dr. McAleese’s thesis fundamentally distorts reality by misrepresenting a sacred spiritual gift as a coercive secular contract. Baptism is not an institutional transaction; to the faithful, it is a gift of God’s grace and an act of parental love. The claim that it traps children in a binding, lifelong institutional cage collapses under the weight of scrutiny. In the real world outside the ideological tower, free human will remains entirely intact. A person can, and sadly many do, freely choose to walk away from the practice of faith without any impediment. The ultimate refutation of Dr. McAleese’s thesis is Dr. McAleese herself. She herself was baptized as an infant. Amazingly, that sacred rite did not prevent her from rising to the highest office in Ireland, pursuing higher education, speaking her mind freely, or spending decades publicly opposing Church hierarchy. Her own successful, unconstrained life completely disproves her claim that infant baptism inflicts a lifelong, disabling constraint on intellectual freedom and human rights. Dr. McAleese’s outrage is curiously selective. While ancient traditions across the globe initiate children at birth, including rituals such as infant circumcision, which leaves a permanent physical mark without the child’s consent, she directs her ire solely at Catholicism. That she ignores irreversible physical practices in other faiths while characterizing the gentle, life-affirming waters of Christian baptism as an abuse reveals that this campaign is far less about universal human rights and far more about a specific ideological agenda. The primary right and duty of parents to guide the moral, spiritual, and educational upbringing of their children is a foundational principle recognized in domestic law and international human rights conventions. Parents do not await consent to bestow a name, teach a language, choose a school, or introduce a child to their cultural heritage. To single out baptism as a human rights abuse defies logic. For generations, Irish men and women endured brutal penal laws precisely because they refused to abandon the sacraments and the baptism of their children. Given that sacred heritage, it is tragic to witness a former Irish head of state deploy legalistic gymnastics to demean religious parents and attack the ancient faith of our people. The Ancient Order of Hibernians stands resolutely with parents who embrace their duty to pass their faith on to the next generation. Baptism is not an act of coercion; it is an act of love. No amount of academic posturing can diminish the sanctity of this sacrament or shake the resolve of Catholic families who continue, with pride and conviction, to hand on the faith of their ancestors"

Before the Tuatha Dé Danann could defeat oppression, they needed more than a warrior. They needed a strategist who could see the entire board. When Lugh arrived at Teamhair, the doorkeeper refused him entry. The court already had a master smith, a champion warrior, a poet, and a sorcerer. The hall was full of specialists. But Lugh posed a single, brilliant question: Did any one person possess all of these skills together? By claiming entry as the Samildánach—the Master of All Arts—Lugh brought something entirely new to Irish mythology. He proved that true leadership isn’t about brute force or hyper-specialization. It is about holistic mastery. Irish myth uniquely elevates the polymath, the individual who bridges disparate disciplines to create order out of chaos. Lugh reminds us that when facing insurmountable odds, our greatest asset is a mind capable of unifying every tool at its disposal.
☀️In Ireland’s darkest hour, its Sun-God came home. As a child, Lugh was carried away across the sea by Mananaan Mac Lir. Looking back at Ireland, he stretched out his hands toward its mountains, rivers and forests: “Some day I will come back to you.” The Coming of Lugh. 🧵
