You know the feeling when you purify a protein (Tet1), but don't have a great antibody or activity assay for it, and then you wonder "did I just purify random bacterial junk"? Then your friend mass specs it for free and it IS Tet1. Yay!! Phew!
Fond memories of sitting in Scott's office, breathing in a cloud of Jerry's pipe smoke. So lucky to have known him.

At the encouragement of our lawyers, we want to state explicitly that today's Biology WOTD is not meant to endorse or condemn any particular religious tradition. Endonuclease (n.): a prophesied apocalyptic event that will end all nucleases. (archaic spelling: end-o'-nuclease)

In life, pure coincidences are statistically common, so a remarkable day is one where no coincidences occur at all.
