its good to remember the people that say that never supported the arts in the first place.
they were never going to be a customer. and to not let them dictate your prices for your art.
dont undervalue your work for people that never valued you
I've seen people complain about animation commission prices, even saying they hope AI replaces artists just because they think the prices are too high.
As an artist, it's genuinely upsetting to see people talk like this.
I want to say a few things about it. 🧵
Custom art is a luxury, and like many things in life, it comes at a cost.
That doesn't mean artists are greedy or trying to make easy money. Most are simply trying to earn a living doing something they've spent years learning.
Their work shouldn't be worth less just because it's art.
I'm not saying every price is fair or that people shouldn't question them. Of course they can.
But there's a huge difference between questioning a price and wishing an entire profession would be replaced by AI because you don't like what someone charges.
You don't have to agree with someone's prices to respect their work.
And that goes for every profession, not just artists.
