Bavuma has been a transformative Test captain, with 12 wins in 14 matches, four hundreds, a world championship mace, all stretched over three broken years. But he is still always, always chasing legitimacy and affirmation, in a way that is unique to cricket, but also unique to this man in this role in this sporting nation. First black middle order batsman. First black captain. How is this going to fall? How strong is that ice underfoot?

@azania_ takes us home to Soweto. "Let's go shoot at my cousin's house in Orlando West..." and there we were, received with love and warmth by her family. Her timeless beauty and sharp wit stand out. This is a woman who helped change the face of South African broadcasting, she reminds us that there is always more to become. From making radio history to knowing when to walk away, start again and build something of her own, Azania is proof that growth has no expiry date. And trust us, between the laughs, the memories and the wisdom, this is the kind of conversation you wish you could pull up a chair for. Read her story on nounouche.online now.

Lots of packaged food is unhealthy and contains high amounts of salt, sugar and fat. We need front-of-package warning labels to protect our health. Sign the Petition by 10 December!

AZANIA MOSAKA: THE VOICE THAT SHAPED AN ERA. From growing up in Pimville to making broadcasting history as the first woman to host a commercial radio breakfast show in South Africa, Azania Mosaka built a two-decade career on depth, poise, and composure. But at the peak of her radio dominance, she made the ultimate act of bravery: she put down the microphone and walked away to grow. What followed was an expansion, from working at the United Nations in Geneva to returning to Wits for her Honours degree, with her sights now firmly set on a PhD. For our latest cover issue, we took things back home to Soweto: shooting across Pimville, local salons, and neighboring schools. We sat Azania down with fellow icon Penny Lebyane for an unedited, deeply moving masterclass in Black sisterhood, integrity, and reclaiming one's narrative. Newborn Girl Survives Nearly 20 Hours In Woolworths Shopping Bag A newborn baby girl was found alive in a Woolworths shopping bag in a bush in Oakford, near Verulam, on KwaZulu-Natal’s north coast, on Tuesday morning. A couple walking to a local tuckshop heard a baby crying from a bush near several houses. They followed the sound and discovered the infant inside the bag, which they opened using scissors. The baby was wrapped in a black T-shirt. Her umbilical cord had been cut but was not tied, and the placenta was still inside the bag. Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) responded to the scene. Paramedics examined the baby and found her to be in good health before she was taken to a local government hospital for further care. Authorities were also notified. During door-to-door enquiries, a resident told officers she had seen a woman discarding a bag in the same bush at around 14:00 on Monday. The baby was discovered at approximately 09:45 on Tuesday, suggesting she may have been abandoned for nearly 20 hours. RUSA officers are continuing their search for women in the area who may have recently given birth. Anyone with information is urged to contact the RUSA Operations Centre on 086 123 4333. Meanwhile, Jo Moodley of the Tongaat Child and Family Welfare Society has urged mothers experiencing crisis pregnancies or difficult circumstances to seek help rather than abandon their babies. She encouraged mothers to approach hospitals, clinics, police stations or registered child protection organisations, emphasising that support is available without judgment. Enquiries into the incident are ongoing.
