this would have been a genuinely nice community effort too. a public NON-PERSONAL drive where writers can upload their own work if they please. and if they don’t for whatever reason, then their work just isn’t added

A lot of people don’t understand that fandoms exist on a very delicate “social contract” by content creators and content consumers (even those who are both) no, artists aren’t entitled to engagement. But you’re not entitled to access to fan creations either. You both do your part

"Your fanfiction is community work!" Dawg I didn't see the community working on my fics with me. I didn't know the community wrote all my shit with me. My work is my work. I wrote it and uploaded it to AO3 thinking I could share my writing.
"You uploaded it so-" so nothing.

ALT A comic of two foxes, one of whom is blue, the other is green. In this one, Green approaches Blue, who is visibly delighted by this. Green: I'm done with work! Blue: Finally! Blue rushes to wrap himself around Green. Blue: Now I can hug you and kiss you and show you memes! Tightly wrapped up in Blue's coiled embrace, Green makes no effort to break free. Green: You also do that when I'm working. Blue takes up his phone to show Green something on the screen. Green watches attentively. Blue: Yes, but now I'm allowed to.
