US intelligence assesses Iran and the Houthis would respond immediately against American troops and facilities in the region.
US officials say Iran is in an advanced stage of planning attacks on US citizens. Middle East personnel are on heightened alert and staffing is being cut at embassies and consulates, following a memo from DNI Jay Clayton to Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
Iran’s ambassador to Pakistan, Reza Amiri Moghadam, said Tehran will reopen the Strait of Hormuz if Washington lifts its naval blockade, and that the Pakistan-brokered June interim deal remains available. An IRGC-linked outlet denied any new proposal had been made.
Iran has rejected Washington’s current demands as “complete surrender,” while saying messages continue through intermediaries. Qatari mediators were in Tehran on Sunday.
The Houthis claimed strikes on Saudi Arabia’s East-West crude pumping stations and on Riyadh airport. Saudi Arabia has confirmed neither. The Saudi-led coalition said it destroyed two ballistic missile launchers in Sanaa, including one used to fire at the capital.
Israeli forces conducted house searches and arrests in Hebron overnight and ordered residents of Deir Baha to leave, after Palestinian gunmen killed two Israeli soldiers in the city on October 23.
Israel votes on Tuesday. Netanyahu pressed Trump for stronger public backing ahead of the vote and received a fresh endorsement, and told the police chief that “anarchists” could taint the result.

Daily Israel-Iran War Brief 25th October 2026:
-Trump says strikes on Iran could come as soon as Sunday -while floating “a nice, big, beautiful agreement” in the same breath, and openly doubting Tehran would honour one. With the midterms on 3 November, the war and the bargain now run on the same clock.
-President Pezeshkian blamed Washington for wrecking the interim talks, calling the Americans “scoundrels” who “broke the rules of the game,” yet insisted Iran must still close the deal -fury and negotiation from the same podium, neither side willing to be the one that walked.
-Two senior Iranian officials have told the New York Times that Tehran is preparing to target American diplomats and personnel, one IRGC figure calling US officials “fair game” -the context for Washington thinning out its embassies in Jordan, Lebanon, Qatar & the UAE after emptying Saudi Arabia earlier this week.
-Iranian state media reports IRGC drones struck the Komala headquarters at Balisan in Iraqi Kurdistan, a strike the Guards have not claimed -Tehran settling old scores with exiled Kurdish groups while the larger confrontation stays frozen.
-Saudi-led coalition air defences intercepted another Houthi ballistic missile aimed at Riyadh -the Yemen front doing the work Iran prefers not to do with its own flag on it.

Summary of what’s happening in the world right now #WW3 possibly? | October 25
Trump leaves the door open to both war and a deal: He says US strikes on Iran could come as soon as Sunday, but also says an agreement is possible. He has questioned whether Tehran would stick to any deal. With the November 3 midterms approaching, the pressure on Washington is growing.
Tehran blames Washington: President Masoud Pezeshkian accused the US of breaking the rules of negotiations while maintaining that a deal must still be reached. The public statements suggest that, despite the sharp rhetoric, diplomacy has not been ruled out.
US personnel face growing security concerns: Iranian officials have reportedly discussed targeting American diplomats and personnel, according to The New York Times. Washington is reducing staffing at several diplomatic missions in the region, including in Jordan, Lebanon, Qatar and the UAE. These reports point to concerns that the confrontation could spread beyond the battlefield.
Iranian drones reportedly hit Kurdish group headquarters: Iranian state media says IRGC drones struck the headquarters of the Komala group in Iraqi Kurdistan. The IRGC has not publicly claimed responsibility for the reported attack. The incident adds to tensions involving Iran and Kurdish opposition groups based outside the country.
Saudi Arabia faces another Houthi threat: Saudi air defences reportedly intercepted a ballistic missile aimed at Riyadh. Continued Houthi attacks add another security concern as tensions across the region remain high.
Gaza ceasefire remains fragile: Disagreements over Hamas disarmament and an Israeli withdrawal continue to hold up progress. Israeli military operations and disputes over the deployment of troops have added to uncertainty over the future of the ceasefire.
Israel tightens security ahead of elections: Israeli authorities are preparing additional security restrictions around the October 27 election, including limits on movement across certain crossings. The military has also conducted exercises amid continuing security concerns.
India watches the energy impact: The Strait of Hormuz remains central to India's energy security. Any disruption to shipping through the waterway could raise crude oil prices, increase import costs and put further pressure on domestic fuel prices.

North Korea Denies Responsibility for DMZ Mine Explosion, Accuses Seoul of Fabrication
North Korea has rejected South Korea’s account of last month’s mine explosion in the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), raising the issue in a letter to the UN Security Council.
Three South Korean soldiers were injured in the blast. Seoul says North Korean mines caused the explosion, while Pyongyang claims the incident was fabricated to obstruct North Korea’s border fortification work.
North Korea has also accused South Korean forces of firing warning shots at its troops.
The two sides continue to dispute the incident, with responsibility for the explosion remaining contested.

Saraighat was not won by one tactic alone.
It involved terrain, fortifications, riverine capability, local knowledge and leadership under pressure.
This Battle shows how a smaller force can offset an opponent’s advantages by choosing the battlefield carefully and coordinating its strengths.
At Saraighat, the Brahmaputra was not just the setting. It was central to the strategy.

The Ahoms counterattacked with coordinated action on the river and from their positions along the banks.
Mughal admiral Munnawar Khan was reportedly killed during the fighting, and the Mughal force retreated. The Ahoms pursued it towards the Manas River.
Saraighat became a decisive setback for Mughal efforts to extend their control into the Ahom kingdom.

The battle nearly turned against the Ahoms.
As Mughal forces pressed forward, some Ahom troops began to falter. Despite being seriously ill, Lachit entered the river battle and rallied his men.
His intervention helped restore momentum.
Leadership is not only about issuing orders. In a crisis, presence can change the confidence of an entire force.

One traditional account describes a symbolic exchange between Ram Singh and Lachit.
Ram Singh reportedly sent a bag of poppy seeds to represent the size of his army. Lachit answered with a tube of sand, suggesting that the Ahoms were numerous and difficult to break apart.
Whether read as a historical exchange or a remembered anecdote, the story captures the psychological dimension of warfare.

The Brahmaputra was more than a geographical feature. It was a battlefield the Ahoms understood.
Knowledge of the river, its channels and its changing conditions mattered. So did the ability to coordinate boats, troops and fortified positions along the banks.
This shows how local knowledge can become a military advantage when strategy is built around it.

The Ahoms strengthened their defences around Guwahati with fortifications and embankments.
Their strategy was not simply to meet the Mughals in an open battle. It was to restrict their options and make the terrain work in their favour.
On the river, the Ahoms’ smaller boats offered flexibility in close combat.

The Mughals, commanded by Raja Ram Singh, had a formidable force, including cavalry, infantry, artillery and a river fleet.
Lachit understood that fighting on the Mughals’ preferred terms could be costly.
Guwahati’s surrounding hills and the Brahmaputra offered a different battlefield - one the Ahoms knew far better.

Ever heard of a battle where a river became a decisive military advantage?
In 1671, the Ahom army under Lachit Borphukan confronted a major Mughal force on the Brahmaputra near Guwahati.
The battle of Saraighat showed how terrain, river warfare and leadership could offset numerical strength.

Pentagon Plans for US Military Bases to Operate for 90 Days Without Outside Support
The Pentagon is looking at ways to keep US military bases running for up to 90 days if civilian infrastructure and supply chains are disrupted during a major conflict.
The plans reportedly include portable nuclear reactors, large-scale battery storage and microgrids to maintain essential services such as electricity, water, fuel and communications.
The concern is that bases relying on civilian power grids and supply networks could face serious problems during a prolonged war.
The goal is to ensure US forces can continue operating even if critical infrastructure fails.

India Advises Citizens in Saudi Arabia Not to Film Missile Interceptions
The Indian Embassy in Saudi Arabia has advised Indian nationals to follow local rules and avoid filming or sharing videos of missile interceptions and debris sites amid ongoing Houthi attacks.
Saudi authorities have warned that sharing such footage could lead to legal consequences.
Air India flights to Riyadh and Dammam remain suspended until November 7, while flights to Jeddah are suspended until October 31.
Indians living in or travelling to Saudi Arabia should follow embassy advisories, stay informed and avoid sharing sensitive footage of security incidents.
