With Storms Austen and Boelo on their way, how do we prepare for and keep services moving on Scotland's Railway during stormy weather?
Morning all, we wanted to give you an update on the speed restrictions we mentioned yesterday, which will slow trains down in areas worst affected by the extreme rainfall we’re expecting to arrive in the next few hours.
Please see the info in the thread below ⬇️
The Aberdeen to Dundee route will see speed restrictions between Laurencekirk and Stonehaven from 15:00 this afternoon (Friday 23 Oct) until 08:30 tomorrow morning (Saturday 24 October).

With Storms Austen and Boelo on their way, how do we prepare for and keep services moving on Scotland's Railway during stormy weather?
Scotland’s Railway is preparing for a weekend of challenging weather, with heavy rain expected on Friday before #StormBoelo brings further wet and windy conditions on Saturday and Sunday.
@MetOffice yellow rain warnings are in place for the coming days.

Storm Boelo follows on Saturday and Sunday, with further preparations underway for that second spell of challenging weather.
More speed restrictions are likely in the worst-affected areas. Our team will monitor closely as confidence in the forecast grows.
Travelling on Friday or over the weekend? Plan ahead, and check your journey at nationalrail.co.uk before you leave the house.
We’ll keep you updated should there be any disruption. Please share this thread with your friends if you know they travel by train.

From Friday, a period of extended wet and windy weather will bring disruption to large parts of Scotland across the weekend as two named storms, Storm Austen and Storm Boelo, sweep their way across the UK.
On Friday, possible flooding impacts are expected with particular concern around Fife, Edinburgh, the Lothians and the Scottish Borders. On Saturday, the concern extends around Western and coastal areas. Impacts could include the flooding of roads, properties and disruption to transport and infrastructure.
