It’s very funny to me that writers at the Australian Financial Review are suddenly discovering labour solidarity. Welcome to the struggle, comrades! abc.net.au/news/2024-07-25/n…

Dude, it doesn’t matter how many blue ticks you buy, he isn’t going to let you drink his sperm. Find another way, seriously.
Australian Establishment, particularly the part of Establishment that does law enforcement, is a completely closed shop. They always look after their own. No consequences for deployment of State power, no matter how ham-fisted or dishonest it is. #robodebt

Labor’s contempt for the younger generation will eventually bite them on the arse. I am unsurprised they haven’t noticed yet.
Julia Gillard has warned many young Australians have ill-informed and unbalanced views about the Israel-Hamas conflict because social media has exploited their lack of knowledge about the history of Israel. theaustralian.com.au/nation/…
The little flick of the wrist Richard Holden makes here to attest that owning a $10 million house doesn’t make you rich is a masterful demonstration of AFR-brain. afr.com/wealth/personal-fina…
I guess above-inflation completely tax free capital gains on $10m worth of property assets won't be counting as investment return income in Economics Professor Richard Holden's completely smooth spherical point-mass-in-a-vacuum brain.

When you start demanding more cops to do more things, you're not going to get the outcomes you want. But you're certainly going to fuck up a lot more people's lives. Cops are what happens when the State fails. Demanding failure will give it to you quick and hard.
Replying to @NewtonMark @ALeighMP
We are truly a nation of cops, constantly on the lookout for those who would defraud our supposedly welcoming natures, without questioning whether we actually have a welcoming nature at all. I wonder how much time the public servant that made that decision actually spent on it.
Because this is how he actually behaved, the implication to be drawn here is that @ALeighMP and the government he's part of really is this disgustingly racist and also abysmally useless when his constituents ask for help. This is why he entered politics. abc.net.au/religion/bernard-…
The thread – & comments – are wild.
“Poor air quality has retired pilots”…none that I’ve met
“There has always been controversy about how cabin air is generated”…no, we understand it quite well
“If the cockpit was as bad as the cabin, those pilots are impaired!”…no, we’re fine, but thanks
“I thought CO2 was always going to be high on a flight because there is no fresh air being circulated”…there’s a lot of it, actually, or you’d be dead on the transcon
“Another argument for a robust international rail system”…let me know how that works in the Atlantic
“I bet the HEPA filters are blocked & not scrubbing the air”…that would be an immediately noticeable problem
Once again, the CO2 sensors on airplanes stuff is completely worthless. The most likely explanation is that the instrument isn’t calibrated (31% humidity on an airplane is impossible) and that they’re measuring their own exhalation.
Jets have been flying with these systems since the 60’s. If the CO2 was a problem putting pilots & flight crew to sleep – or if flight crews were getting covid at some higher rate (they aren’t) – we’d know.
Stop posting this kind of crap. It’s worthless fear-mongering
Jfc @united, the air quality on this flight is horrifying and one, maybe two other people on this full flight of 170 people are wearing a mask. A reading like this means air is not circulating. CO2 itself at these levels are unhealthy, not to mention viruses being breathed out.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The Aranet4 CO2 sensor requires calibration for use at altitude; which would not be possible on an airplane:

The indicated humidity of 31% is also not possible on airplanes, where typical cabin humidity is between 10-20%:

The entire state of NSW, population 8.5 million, has 312 people hospitalized with COVID.
The last time we had that few was December 2021 before Omicron hit, except that then we also had 40 ICU cases and today we have none.
