So delighted to take part in this fabulous weekend exploring Hilary Mantel’s Wolf Hall trilogy in the shadow of the Tower of London. Next up a staged reading of The Mirror and The Light 🤩 #TheHouseofCromwell
A fabulous panel led by @ARJ_Hawkins with Diarmaid MacCulloch and @MirandaMalins on The Tower as reality and symbol in the Mirror and the Light as part of the Wolf Hall Weekend @wolfhallweekend #wolfhallweekend #wolfhall #tudor #tudors
Remembering today the life of St Polycarp, Bishop and martyr, and his words said at his trial in response to being asked to swear against God:
“For eighty-six years I have been his servant and he has never done me wrong; how can I blaspheme my King, who saved me?”
Sharing Christmas love & cheer with all working today, making Christmas special for others. @AllHallowsTower this means wonderful reception & hospitality teams at the hotels, @fourseasons_uk @NovoTowerBridge, Leonardo & here, Hilton Doubletree. God bless you & Happy Christmas
Joining the #clergymaltclub after Midnight Mass, with people in London on holiday & those working in the hotels over the road, long time attendees & first-timers - it was just as it should be, filled with God’s love.
Wishing everyone a happy and holy Christmas @AllHallowsTower
It was wonderful to welcome to Canon James Pacey, Chancellor @HFDCathedral to our service today. He preached on the gift of faith, using his storyteller skills to unpack the difference between belief & faith. I got, for a short while, to play once more a role in The Passion Play.
On this day, we remember William Penn (1644-1718), born in our parish, baptised here at All Hallows by the Tower @AllHallowsTower, influential Christian and founder of Pennsylvania.
May he rest in peace and rise in glory
He drafted a charter of liberties for the settlement, and introduced the idea of amendments to ensure that the government framework could evolve over time.
He died on this day in 1718.

What a blessing @StPaulsLondon for the Chrism Eucharist with blessing of oils and renewal of vows @dioceseoflondon
All Hallows by the Tower are currently expecting technical issues with the wifi. We are sorry for any inconvenience to our zoom and livestream congregations, and are trying to rectify the situation as soon as possible.
Just in from Midnight Mass, a joyful celebration of the birth of Jesus, thanks be to God.
I raise a toast to my brothers and sisters in the #ClergyMaltClub (and lay leaders too!) wherever you are in the world.
After months of hard work, what a joy to walk through the new doors into @HFDCathedral - more welcoming and accesible, with better insulation to improve the cathedral’s carbon footprint.
“I am the door” (John 10.9)
Advent joy as I returned to one of the first parishes I visited in Hereford, the always welcoming Whitbourne. With the help of B we lit the first candle, and reflected on the ‘and will come again’ promise.
Thanks be to God - the Kington parishes have a new Vicar! The Rev’d Dr Sally Welch was collated and installed last night, and everyone managed to get through the floods to support her. Wonderful!
The flood barriers are up along the River Wye by Hereford Bridge. Praying the defences hold and for all affected by #StormBert
I’m sorry to say this corresponds with stories shared with me by fellow pilgrims when I cycled the Camino in 2022. My husband and I were joined on several occasions by solo women pilgrims who found the company of a couple a safer place to be for a while. theguardian.com/world/2024/n…
