Sleeping Diana I see Sleeping Diana as a moment of rest, a moment when someone can let go of everything around them and simply be. There is something beautiful about the way she lies there, completely lost in sleep, without worrying about how she looks or how the world sees her. I wanted this piece to feel personal and familiar. The kind we don’t usually pay much attention to, but one that can hold so much feeling when you stop to look at it. There is a certain beauty in seeing someone at rest, in a moment when nothing is being demanded of them. What I love about this image is the way her body rests on the bed, with one arm hanging loosely over the edge. Her hair falls freely, and the fabric covering her creates a soft contrast against her skin. The lighting and the textures give the image the feeling of an old painting, something you might find in a classical art collection. Yet, the scene itself feels very ordinary and real. The title, Sleeping Diana, brings to mind the classical figure of Diana, often associated with nature and the Roman goddess of the hunt. But in this work, I am more interested in the human side of the image: a woman sleeping, resting, and being completely herself in that moment. I think we often underestimate the beauty of ordinary moments. We are always looking for something grand, something dramatic, or something worth remembering. But sometimes, there is beauty in such moments, when someone is simply resting and doesn’t have to be anything for anyone. And perhaps that is what makes the moment so beautiful. Sometimes, the most beautiful thing a person can do is allow themselves to rest.
