If you are searching for a post-doc opportunity in skin biology and HSV-1 research, please reach out to be considered for our T32 Interdisciplinary Training Program in Skin Biology. (please note this fellowship is only available for U.S. citizens or green card holders)
Voting for ASV (American Society for Virology) president ends next week, and I only now learned that @SzparaLab in the running! Moriah is one of the most caring people, especially for trainees, in our field, and I can't recommend her enough ❤️
We are searching for a lab manager!
If you are detailed oriented, like southern california, HSV-1, sequencing and microscopy, please get in touch :)

Interview on main SA TV channel on the ground breaking HIV/AIDS new therapy, Lenacapavir, a twice year injection that prevent HIV infection. youtu.be/8PUr63n2rY8
Gilead plans to have their new HIV PrEP (lenacapivir) that is only taken twice a year rolled out in South Africa and other hot spots of the HIV pandemic at a cheap and affordable price (30-40$ annually)! In theory, this means the end of HIV transmissions is in sight 🙏
Here, a TV interview on Lenacapavir drug for HIV, which will be made cheaply available in 120 countries and may be a game changing on HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment.

Here is our answer (to those who have been following) - 3 days post gRNA lenti transduction we can just barely detect editing, but at 6 days it is >80% edited. Yay :)
OK, a stupid question, but I can't find a straight answer anywhere. When using lentivirus for gRNA delivery into Cas9 expressing cells - how long do you need to wait before assaying for indels?? We tried at 3 days post transduction and got nothing. Is it just to early?

Happy to share our lab's first manuscript, describing a drug repurposing screen against HSV-1. We identified decitabine as a potent inhibitor in vitro, and showed it dramatically increases the mutation rate of HSV-1, likely leading to lethal mutagenesis
