"At the Shelekhov District Hospital in the Irkutsk Region of Russia, a quarantine was imposed due to a suspected especially dangerous infection. A 28-year-old Darya Shipilova, a laboratory technician at the Irkutsk Anti-Plague Institute, died there. About 200 people who may have been in contact with her are under medical surveillance.. on September 25 the employee broke a test tube containing the agent of pneumonic plague, after which she felt unwell. She was hospitalized in the district hospital, where she spent three days. Death occurred on the night of October 2. After the patient’s death, people who may have had contact with her began to be placed under observation.. The possibility of plague infection drew attention specifically because of the pneumonic form of the disease: it can be transmitted from person to person. However, regional authorities have not confirmed that the laboratory technician died of this disease. The governor spoke only of a suspicion of an especially dangerous infection, without specifying its name." The plague bacterium is a BSL (Biosafety Level)-3 pathogen, just like SARS-CoV-2. Air Quality Monitors I just treated myself to a nice gift, I ordered the VisiblAir Model O, took advantage of the fact that it's 15% off this September. It's not just a gift, it's a pure passion for ventilation and air quality. This monitor does CO2, PM2.5, Humidity, TVOC and NOx. I plan to compare it to the AirGradient I just received, which also monitors the same things. With the special, it cost me $301 CAD, taxes and shipping included. It ships worldwide from Canada; cost is calculated at checkout. I don't want to announce results with a lot of fanfare. Over the coming months I'm going to test it and use it in different ways. It'Airs not easy to test without an expensive reference instrument. One of the things to look at is reactivity to pollutants and how well the levels are able to come back down after ventilation (for gases) or purification (for PM). I might start with 2 simple videos, one where I release a gas into the air (could be mosquito repellent spray), the other PM (with ultrasonic humidifier), to see how this device behaves compared to the others on my list. There's also CO2, which is interesting to compare. Devices I have: Qingping Air Lite, Temtop M10+, Temtop M10, Temtop LKC-1000S, AirGradient ONE, Qingping Pro2, VisiblAir Model C, Inkbird CO2, Piera Systems IPS-7011 evaluation kit, Sensirion SPS-30 Evaluation kit, Aranet4. Temtop C1 (CO2). Temtop S1 (PM). I also want to use it in a test chamber to evaluate the effect of a carbon filter on TVOC, HCHO and NOx. I'm going to build an air purifier with an AC Infinity 6 inch carbon filter that I'll mount with Sickleflow 120 PC fans. visiblair.com/products/model…
