you're so not ready for it not being a bubble
So if I summarise: Anthropic is printing money right now, almost already profitable. Since inception they only burnt $20B and get will get $16B revenue just in 2026. They have immense liquidity: +$100B in cash rn and will get $100B more cash with IPO. They have locked for $600B worth of future compute for the next 10y (with the discount that come with it). They will even be able to make profit on this cheap compute in the future, if they resell it ... and they are also drying out the competition with such allocaton.

This is obvious to most with a working brain cell.
Griffin thinks GPUs are a commodity: "GPUs, like airlines, have a very low marginal cost to run... the moment you have overcapacity, pricing goes into freefall." Ken Griffin's bear case is supply passing demand in a business where the next unit costs almost nothing to serve, the same setup that took telecom pricing straight down after the 2000 fiber buildout. He thinks every AI return model in use today assumes that never happens. $NVDA $AVGO Citadel CEO Ken Griffin Says AI 'Almost Certainly' in a Bubble; Trump Has 'Mixed Scorecard', Bloomberg Podcasts, October 21, 2026

I understand there’s a slowdown in the public credit market because midterms are undecided and people want to see the new policy appetite for data centers. But you’re right, the private side of the market is still as booming ever with maybe a slight uptick in interest rates only

Replying to @agupta
I finance brand new neoclouds for a living and am having no issues placing capital. Elon is universalizing his own problem, which is that investors constrained to the crowded rated markets are repositioning. Demand for GPUs expressed as financeable rental contracts outstrips supply by many orders of magnitude and private credit is all over it.

unpopular opinion: personal assistants are really not the most compelling usecase for cloud VMs sandboxes he is right you can run them on nothing. the same way a real life personal assistant doesn't need a HPC cluster, just a phone + Acer laptop agents hillclimbing in science, arts, engineering, is what will have a usecase for unlimited CPU compute and those will be trillions of agents, running hundreds of trillions of vCPU, because the unsupervised post-economic value there is uncapped assistants are for current human civilization, HPC clusters are for long horizon kardashev climbing
this is all you need to make $1m ARR btw

Great moment at @NVIDIAGTC Berlin! Hydra Host’s Head of Sovereign AI, Carl Meacham, had the opportunity to connect with @nvidia founder and CEO @JensenHuang. As an NVIDIA Cloud Partner, Hydra Host is proud of our growing relationship and shared commitment to expanding access to AI compute worldwide. We’re helping build the next generation of distributed AI infrastructure, enabling countries and businesses not just to consume AI, but to develop and deploy it on their own terms. #HydraHost #NVIDIA #NVIDIAGTC #CloudPartner #AIInfrastructure

Lots of VCs kindof sound like this: "Your basketball team doesn't have a moat, any healthy human can throw the ball into the basket thingy. " People who have not run companies before don't understand how much the team matters more than some imagined structural moat.

When markets are growing quickly, moats don't really matter. It doesn't make sense for leaders to invest in new spaces. And tons of whitespace gets created. When markets slow down, most moats can't save you anyway. Don't worry too much about moats.

Have any of the labs tried to do in history what they've done in math, like digitizing the relevant documents, having lots of historians in the loop, and throwing a few billion tokens at a question like "why did the industrial revolution happen when and where it did?"

seems obvious to everyone around me that sandboxes are on their way out. we hear too many stories about reliability, capacity, broken sandboxes that need manual intervention -- plus they are way too expensive for what they provide. the future for agents? workspaces. your agent doesn't need a computer. it needs a place to store it's context, and the *tools* to manipulate that context each turn. we're in the very early stages of the AI era. the simplest version of this pattern is just handing each agent a time-multiplexed VM, since that's the only thing that we have at hand right now. over the next 12 months, you're going to see a rapid shift away from this model and towards what i call the "magic compute box". rather than giving an agent a VM, you give it a set of tools (could be "bash", "python", "js", "read_file", "write_file") -- and you send those commands to a magic service in the cloud that manages to run them for you -- using the cheapest technology available (just-bash, wasm, or even Linux if really required) for each command invcation. your agent doesn't want a computer that it can set a desktop background for, it wants a place where it can fire off an unlimited number of tool calls and have it update the context correctly.
is this a hot take? if you're using persistent VMs with agents you're doing it wrong ephemeral sandboxes are not only the future, but they are already the present, and they provide numerous and superior capabilities to single or small quantity persistent VMs

This is actually completely backwards, the largest customers (OAI/Ant/Meta) only take/highly prefer baremetal. Managed k8s/slurm is great for small/medium labs. But even amongst these, you'd find a preference for baremetal. The framing makes it sound like baremetal is easy; it's not.
to be a real neocloud you need to build software, not just supply power and GPUs lots of people are buying sites and filling them with B300s that’s cool, they’ll probably sell a few racks, but they’re gonna get blown out of the water by companies that build software spot is fundamentally a software product. the platform is constantly shifting workloads around and cleaning up between jobs, and you’re solving many orchestration problems at scale i’d be bullish on anyone doing spot or serverless like beam.cloud and bearish on anyone buying power and GPUs and calling themselves a neocloud

Many HWWs are made in China or Asia. Ledger uses Foxconn now. Some like Keystone and OneKey are Asian companies. @FoundationHQ will always manufacture domestically
PALMER LUCKEY WARNS OF CHINESE SUPPLY CHAIN ATTACKS Oculus founder Palmer Luckey reveals that his company repeatedly discovered hidden surveillance electronics inside product samples received from Chinese factories. The devices could reportedly record conversations and transmit audio over cellular networks. “There were multiple times when we discovered actual wiretap electronics in product samples that were given to us.” His account takes on new significance following reports of a suspected Ledger hardware wallet supply chain attack, in which devices may have been physically modified to compromise users’ seed phrases. If hardware wallets can be compromised before they ever reach their owners, how much can we really trust the supply chain? Could American-made hardware wallets like @FoundationHQ become the new gold standard for Bitcoin self-custody?

China is absolutely insane. As if a pork glut weren’t enough, now it has an electricity glut too… Just think about how insane this sentence sounds: “Data centers are the solution to electricity oversupply.”
This is the first in a three-part series examining China’s breakneck build-out of AI infrastructure as it seeks to become the pre-eminent tech superpower. With @EleanorOlcott and @WillLangley96 from the hinterlands of Ulanqab to Shaoguan Limited free link as.ft.com/r/dd3eceea-e2f6-44…

Software as a service is about to have an entirely new "piracy" era. And its not because people will jailbreak and distribute their software... It's because some user/maker will let an LLM run for a few days, interacting with and using every tool and element in the software and then rebuilding a new, mirrored version of it and then making it freely available so that they can be the compute provider plugged into the backend. I suspect software will become more and more free, for the purpose of selling compute and hosting/storage as the commodity.

This is the doom I predicted a few days ago, coming for Photoshop. A clean-room open-source reimplementation. No prizes for guessing that they decompiled Photoshop to source code, processed that to some kind of non-code specification language, then fed the spec to an LLM with an instruction to generate Rust. Adobe just got nuked. And closed source is dead, dead, dead. github.com/storytold/photocr…
