🚨 Details have been released on Tom Aspinall’s NIGHTMARE recovery leading up to him vacating the heavyweight title: - He got double eye surgery in February - Following the surgery, he got an infection on his right eye - He had to take medicine and antibiotics for 6 weeks because of the infection - He accidentally scraped his right eye following this, causing another infection which then required another surgery - He started recovering and Tom and the UFC were targeting MSG at the end of the year for a return - He started training and sparring and got hit in the right eye again, the right eye got sent back to square one - He went for a scan, and the results were very bad - A doctor refused to clear him to fight, he went for a second opinion and that doctor also refused to clear him - The doctors told him to rest and come for another scan in January - He then made the decision to vacate the UFC heavyweight title - Dana White, Hunter Campbell and the UFC allowed him to make the announcement himself, despite them being aware of this weeks ago via @arielhelwani
