So is having really shitty art takes the new troll meta, or are people actually this dumb? This place feels like /ic/ lately.

There is a point, however, where you have to ask whether you’re using a particular reference because it’s representative of the idea you’re trying to make, or because it’s a convenient replacement for an idea.

I’ve seen a lot of discussions about whether “using pose references constitutes plagiarism.” My art teacher once said, “The human skeleton has its limits; every pose you can think of has already been used by someone else, so there’s absolutely no point in worrying about this.”

There are a lot of people who haven't just failed to adapt to circumstances, but completely refuse to make any attempt. Pretending that somehow the world can go back to the way it was, and are in a perpetual state of regarding reality as illegitimate.

Personally, using 'art' as a catch-all term for literally everything makes art, both as a material thing and a concept, worthless. If everything were truly 'art', it wouldn't be subjective whether or not that is actually the case. Video games aside, even.

It's reasonable to say any given video game is art, potentially. But to say video games are art, is probably one of the most harmful things you could do to the medium or even art in general, regardless of how you define video game or art.
