it looks even better in print 🤩 my poem "teeth," 1st place winner of the Quarter After Eight prose contest prize, selected by THEE Diane Seuss 🙈 @dlseuss.
immense thanks to her and the journal for publishing one of my most vulnerable poems 🤍🩹

the nicole kidman song actually has done transformative things in my life because so many completely random things constantly happen to me and threaten to upend my sanity and it's nice to remind myself that baby girl is in control. i'm actually so in control
and on a less serious note that shit goes crazy in the club. and then actually being named nicole like. it goes so crazy
and it better win them all

this movie was so,... makes me think a lot about poet a. van jordan when he talks about "the luxury of a sustained look"
if liz was a Black woman this multidimensionality bit wouldn't even be a conversation. liz is able to occupy the space between innocence & cruelty bc she's her. if she was Black there'd only be one landing. so i kept that in mind every time i felt anything.
it's the fact i feel guilty for doing this and im over communicating to my coworkers/clients that ill be out this weekend—as if its an abnormal thing to not work weekends. my brain is actually rotting. this is not what my ancestors had in mind for me!
