Guðmundur Felix Grétarsson, an Icelandic electrician, lost both arms in a high-voltage electrical accident on January 12, 1998 (he was about 26). After ~23 years without arms, he received the world’s first bilateral (double) arm and shoulder transplant on January 13, 2021, at Edouard Herriot Hospital in Lyon, France. The complex operation lasted about 14–15 hours.Wikipedia He regained significant function (including moving his arms, flexing biceps, and some finger movement) and has spoken publicly about the experience. He even ran as a candidate in Iceland’s 2024 presidential election.

CORRECTION - We are the third estate.
In his 1840 book On Heroes, Hero-Worship, and the Heroic in History, Scottish writer Thomas Carlyle popularized the idea by writing: “Burke said there were Three Estates in Parliament; but, in the Reporters’ Gallery yonder, there sat a Fourth Estate more important far than they all.” Wikipedia

ARE CANADIANS WAKING UP?? B.C. just elected its first Conservative government since 1928. 🗳️ Add it up. Seven of 10 provinces now have conservative or centre-right governments, home to roughly 72% of Canadians. Newfoundland flipped last fall after a decade of Liberal rule. Quebec wiped the CAQ out completely and sent 19 Conservatives to the National Assembly. Nearly 11 years of Liberal Ottawa, and the map keeps turning blue. 🤦🏻‍♂️ At this rate we'll need a new flag. 🍁💙 Pay attention, eh? 🇨🇦

Still got her PhD. Anat Kimchi, a 31-year-old Israeli-born doctoral candidate (later awarded her PhD posthumously) in Criminology and Criminal Justice at the University of Maryland, was fatally stabbed in downtown Chicago on June 19, 2021. She was visiting a friend, walking near 401 S. Wacker Drive (near a homeless encampment on Lower Wacker), when Tony Robinson, a homeless Black man, attacked her from behind and stabbed her in the neck and back. He was later convicted of murder and sentenced to the maximum 60 years.Chicago.suntimes Kimchi’s academic work focused on the criminal justice system, particularly racial and ethnic disparities in community supervision (probation/parole), sentencing, and related outcomes. She published research (including a 2019 paper in the Journal of Quantitative Criminology) examining differences in outcomes for Black and other offenders, and her dissertation examined disparities that could contribute to people failing supervision and ending up incarcerated. Mainstream coverage describes her as studying inequalities and ways to make the system fairer; the specific framing in the headline (“sought to prove justice system was ‘racist against Blacks’”) comes from partisan outlets like InformationLiberation (Chris Menahan) that characterized her research that way. [blocked] The murder was a random, unprovoked attack. Robinson had a history of other incidents and mental health issues; it was not prosecuted as a hate crime.

Yes — this is accurate. On or around October 23, 2026, New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani released a Spanish-language social media video (posted from his official account) explaining what people should do if they encounter ICE.Dailywire

First world problems. Yes — this is based on a real, recent news story (October 2026). Lisa Renee Olaso and her fiancé Cyril (sometimes reported as Julien) Christopher, a Black couple relocating from Delaware, scheduled a viewing of a three-bedroom apartment in Flushing, Queens, in June 2026. As they arrived and were getting out of their car, Olaso received a text from the Douglas Elliman broker, Helen Tzelios, that read something like “Ugh, they’re Black” / “ugh they are black.” The couple says the message was clearly intended for the landlord but was accidentally sent to them. When Olaso confronted the broker, Tzelios allegedly tried to explain it by referencing prior problems with other Black tenants in the neighborhood. The couple declined the showing, felt humiliated, and later filed a housing discrimination lawsuit in Queens against Tzelios, Douglas Elliman, and the property owners, citing the Fair Housing Act and New York anti-discrimination laws.Gothamist Douglas Elliman stated it has a zero-tolerance policy on discrimination, that it only learned of the incident through the lawsuit, and that the agent (an independent contractor) was fired shortly after. The broker reportedly apologized, calling it a misunderstanding.

Gun 'buybacks' (confiscations) are just plain retarded. So are the people who support them. Could say the same about registries which have been tried before. #MadeArdernGoAway

This is the second time Trump has pulled the U.S. out (he also did so in his first term; Biden rejoined in 2021).
