Every single child in Oklahoma deserves a quality education, no matter where they live or who they were born to. Thank you to all the parents, educators, and students who came to the Capitol today in support of school choice in OK. #ParentpowerOK

I had the privilege of joining Rev. Robert Turner at Vernon AME in Greenwood this morning to see the newly-restored Book of Redemption, the record of congregants who rebuilt the church after the Tulsa Race Massacre. Thank you to @museumofBible for the beautiful restoration work! – at Tulsa, OK

In their prayer room, Rev. Dr. Turner has displayed the chairs that survived this horrific event in our state’s history as well as the giving ledger in the years following of those in the black community who made sacrifices to rebuild this spiritual pillar.

Vernon AME Church is one of the only buildings still standing in the Greenwood community that dates back to the 1921 Tulsa massacre.

Growing up near the Greenwood district in Tulsa, it was a special morning for me connecting with community leaders and learning of the new opportunities underway to teach the nation about the history of the 1921 Tulsa Black Wall Street massacre.
