#OnThisDay in 2013, OLMCA was named a National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education for the first time! OLMCA applied again in 2019 and received the Blue Ribbon for a second time making OLMCA one of only 4 elementary schools in Chicago to ever receive it twice!
#OnThisDay in 1846, the Sisters of Mercy began their work in education, charities, and healthcare in Chicago. OLMCA was founded in 1888 by the Sisters of Mercy who continued to serve the children of Mount Carmel through 1987.
