Phosphate values remain flat while corn/grain values continue to take a beating.
How bad is the relationship at the start of fall application?
With a current ratio of 172 bushels of corn per 1-ton of DAP, only 7% of the weeks going back to 2020 have been as high or higher...
Here's your USDA Fertilizer Price report. Its interesting that the USDA reports showed improvement in N$ while last weeks local dealers notes N$ increase. Will dig more into that mid week. Check out the OSUNPK.com for the conversation on what's happening to drive $$

More people should know this.
To the extent that aggregate stability reflects soil structure, this is good news: stability is not highly related to soil C, but rather to tillage intensity.
Improve soil structure by reducing tillage; no C increase needed.

Urea market has a decision to make.
Ongoing Middle East fighting is devastating global supplies - bullish.
Grain markets are getting destroyed - bearish.
China is exporting more - bearish
Other global production still hurting - bullish
What a time to be alive...
The Oct 2 USDA report shows a little movement in fertilizer price across the state. Quiet is good for now, but everything out there is signally a change soon. Check out the overall report on OSUNPK.com Next Monday we will have another report from our local suppliers.

China keeps approving more rounds of urea exports, and that has the market bearish!
If my count is right and they follow thru, their exports for 2026 may be nearing double their normal annual rate. Even better, most of those exports are coming 2nd half of the calendar.

Crop roots = standard oil well
Crop roots + mycorrhizal network = a fungal fracking system.
Just like their petroleum counterpart, the root+fungi system is extractive because we harvest the collected nutrients.
The difference is that we keep adding nutrients back to the soil.
Working on getting corn and sorghum trial reports out ASAP. Mean while here's the cost per lb of nutrient based on the USDA report.
The September USDA report shows Nitrogen moving in both directions depending on source. The OSUNPK.com blog walks the readers through why this is the case.
Also I now have enough local venders and will be sharing a true local price report next Monday.

Recently had several calls/emails asking about the outcome of some planted undies. It really got me thinking about what a cool teaching tool it is, and how its also been maybe over used at times. Well those thoughts made it into a blog. Check it out. osunpk.com/2026/09/17/soil-y…
Getting the last of our corn cut in the main body of the state at the Mingo Valley research station in Bixby. Yield here better than the rest of what we’ve been in this year. Really hoping this ground gets a ring. Find results at OSUNPK.com very soon.

I talk fertilizer and stuff:
- Middle East/Russia conflicts continue to dominate markets
- Rising European gas costs could hurt more nitrogen production
- Could higher grain prices spell higher fertilizer demand this fall?
