Meeting this morning on behalf of @ahpfscot, with @Carolyncahpo and Mr Gray @scotgov. Promoting AHPs as the solution to many current health and social care challenges but we need parity with nursing and medics, voice to be in the decision making rooms and workforce investment.

This morning I had a really interesting visit to HMP Edinburgh to meet with the Occupational Therapists within the Health Unit. Huge thank you to the team for welcoming me and sharing the challenges and innovative ways they are working in such a unique healthcare setting.

Some of my top slides from the @RCOT_MH conference in London = why primary care? Why not 3rd sector/ heart of the community?…positive external project evaluation… NHS OT report in addition to this..several OT reflections & recommendations.
Key message: Occupational Therapists can significantly improve patient outcomes when working with them earlier and within the community.
Next steps = look at improving lives, saving money approach.
OT’s are key leaders in service developments and QI projects. We have the skills to make meaningful change at all levels.

Understanding & influencing courageous behaviour is an important part of leading change. If we don't feel courage, we won't try new things. @BillTreasurer helpfully describes "three buckets of courage":
1) TRY courage is the courage of first attempts, being wiling to experiment & try new things.
2) TRUST courage is about letting go of formulas that worked in the past, our preconceptions about how things should be & our need to control.
3) TELL courage is where people feel safe to express themselves authentically & fully.
