Rest in peace my friend.
In my 20’s, I used to work on Wall Street. People my age now (45) said they were working 70, 80, 90 hours a week for their families…but all their families actually wanted was their presence. They didn’t understand why their families resented how much they worked when they lived in a nice house, and their kids went to private schools. It was just the world we all lived in. We knew nothing else. I decided early in my startup journey that wasn’t going to be me. My co-founders and I have always had a policy of quitting at 5 or 5:30. By that, I mean: > Shut off my laptop > No more work talk > Go home to my family Frequently I’m out even earlier - 3-5, depending on whether I want to do something with the kids. I rarely travel for work and don’t entertain for work. My family life gives me energy for my work. My work gives me energy for my family life. I'm trying to stay not burnt out and excited about this for several decades. Can every founder choose this? Maybe not everybody, but more people have the choice than realize they do. There is great reward that comes from designing a business around the life you want.

Sources: Missouri All-American RB Ahmad Hardy will make his season debut this weekend at Arkansas. He’s not going to start, but he’s expected to get a handful of carries for Missouri. Hardy returned to practice this week after dealing with the injury complications of being struck by a bullet in May.

"man meta ads performance has been shit all month!" 11 billion dollars spent on midterms. probably undercounted, more like 15 billion. and unlike the superbowl, these are the most negative ads ever "EVERYTHING IS EXPENSIVE AND PEOPLE ARE COMING TO KILL YOU" gee, that probably doesnt fuck up conversion rates. Im up 70% this month. if you arent, just stay steady. you can not stop the american consumer. they are ready to make you rich this black friday. JUST STAY FOCUSED

Every week I talk with CEO's and mass retailers. In this envrionment, if you want to gain distribution in physical retail there is one clear path. Achieve significant velocity online, have good reviews in places considered trusthworthy like Amazon, and have significant social media buzz. That's the formula for success. The retailers are desperate to find brands that will drive foot traffic and excitement. The ones that fit this description are getting intial buys that are eye popping.

Lots of entrepreneurs are running their businesses like the Boy Scouts. treating everything they do like they are going to get a badge for it "I dont discount" "well I am bootstrapped" "thats off brand" no one cares. the only scoreboard is the cash flow your asset can produce. if its enough to live the life of your dreams- congratulations, you won but some people are trying to run a business like a damn nuzlocke (making up rules just to make the game harder) there are no points awarded for pain, suffering, and stress induced balding do whatever it takes to get to the cashflow required. in whatever way works for you. you arent in the boy scouts. you arent even in a race. its more like a late night walk. you can stop whenever you want, but you dont because who knows what you might find around the corner

Have you been sued in California for wire tapping, just for using a meta pixel? Thousands of Ecom brands were getting shake down requests for nothing more than a conversion pixel. Every settlement was $10,000-$50,000 bucks, right out of the pocket of small business. I was sued multiple times. As of today, that won’t ever happen again: I thought this was the wrong reading of the law and wanted to do something about it. My internal team worked with the eCommerce alliance. They put time, money, and resources into changing this law. I really didn’t do much. But as a result of their hard work- No one else will be sued for this ever again. The work of the eCommerce alliance, backed by postscript, just saved the entire ecom industry probably 30 million dollars a year. Huge shoutout to Gina from my team for getting this done. Ridge could have just kept paying it. But that’s how these things win. Ecom brands are too fractured, everyone too cheap, everyone being crabs in a bucket. It takes brands and great partners like postscript to work together to make the industry better. I just saved your brand $25,000 bucks. You can thank postscript for that.

Last month I wrote about how we can build a positive and safe future for everyone: meta.com/thefutureisforevery… Every lab has the responsibility and incentive to move at the pace required to train its models safely, and the ability to take its own actions to ensure that happens. The reality is: - People won't want to use agents that are misaligned with them and that don't do what they ask, so labs have a strong natural incentive to make their models more aligned. There is a lot of debate about slowing progress on capabilities until alignment catches up. My view is that trust and alignment are quickly becoming the most important capabilities that will differentiate agents and models. Any lab that doesn't focus on alignment will fall behind. - Labs face significant liability if their models cause harm, so they have a strong incentive to prevent this as well. Meta delayed shipping Muse for several months to focus on safety and security. We didn't call for everyone else to do this before we would. We just did it as part of our day-to-day work because it was clearly the right thing for people and for us. I'm proud of the security foundations we've built. - Engaging independent evaluators and advisors is industry best practice. MSL already does this today in several areas because it helps produce better work. Other labs can just do this too. In general, it would be helpful for there to be a larger and more diverse ecosystem of evaluators. - Committing the significant majority of compute towards serving people rather than racing towards recursive self-improvement is one of the best ways to ensure we develop this technology safely. Meta has made this commitment and other labs can do this as well. I believe the key to building a positive future for everyone is maintaining the right balance of power. This is within our power to do.

(Deep breath 9 months in the making) … … … (Say it with me y’all) … … … NEVER A DOUBT. After 9 straight AFC West titles, 7 straight trips to the AFCCG & going to 5 of 6 Super Bowls, KC finally had a down year. But that’s over & we’re back to normal. The AFC goes thru KC.

Wait til he warms up #chiefs
Who would’ve thought Patrick Mahomes could have less than 70 yards passing and the Chiefs would STILL be up 14 on one of the best defenses in football?! Kenneth Walker is the REAL DEAL. 👀
