Onagi Reviews: Edgerunners Season 2 Alright Chooms! I finally sat down to watch Edgerunners Season 2. For those of you who know, I have a huge hard-on for @CyberpunkGame, "Please hire me, by the way!" and while I do feel like the first season of Edgerunners was a fantastic show that harkens back to the old-school days of anime...the show was heavy and tragic. These days, I feel like the real world is horrible enough, so I was a little hesitant to dive into what I assumed was going to be a huge downer... I'm happy to say that this was not the case, and in some ways, I like season 2 more than the first. At the forefront, I feel like this season was more an actual cyberpunk story than just an anime that was only slightly connected. I'm not bashing the first season; I just felt like it was sometimes more preoccupied with being an anime than a cyberpunk story... I'll write a separate review. But like the first season, this show is filled with likable characters who you just want to cheer for. Talia and King really won me over in a surprising way. Not as big a fan of "cyberpunk Sasuke," D but it was really cool to get some more lore on the Nomad Snake Nation! Man, I almost want to get that logo tattooed on me! In my opinion, it's a more complex story than season 1, with multiple plotlines going simultaneously. I have to admit...It's not the kind of story I could have written, which is one of the reasons I'm so impressed, but shouldn't be, seeing as @sztybor_writes had a pig part in crafting the story, apparently. I'm not a big fan of horrifically killing off every lovable character that the audience is invested in, which is one of the reasons I was so traumatized by season one. But without spoiling anything, I'm happy to say that the body count of this tale is significantly lower. There are still man tear-jerking moments, but there are also moments of victory, and a sense of hope that some of them find some semblance of happiness and life beyond the events of the show. I only have two notes. The first being that I would have expanded on the relationship between Talia and her father just a little more. I really thought there was going to be a history of abuse there, but I think the idea was that there was a misunderstanding of parental expectations. Almost a cultural inability to express his real emotions, or lack thereof. My only real complaint is that I don't like the way, in both shows, the protagonists eventually morph into some kind of weird mechanical monsters; I mean literally, not metaphorically. But that's it, really. OVERALL great show, 9/10 stars, will probably watch again to see if I missed anything, and you should too. Well, back to work, choombas!

MY GOD! IMMA FUCKIN CRASH OUT RIGHT NOW! ARE YA'LL FUCKING KIDDING ME! - TLDR "I understand that your point here was to point out that it was potentially racist, but there are several ethnic gangs in Night City, and they were all treated the same. And many of you seemed to have missed the point entirely." Typically, I wouldn't try to argue with this kind of hard-headed stance, but I won't tolerate Cyberpunk slander! lol So please feel free to attend my VDB TED Talk. 1. The VDBs are a CRIMINAL ORGANIZATION. Just like any other in the story. Valentinos, Maelstrom, Barghest, Scavs, or Tyger Claws. Do you get it???? They do not, in any way, shape, or form, represent their entire communities. Do we assume that every Italian has mob ties??? Come on! 2. Like many criminal organizations, they often get started to PROTECT THE PEOPLE OF THEIR OWN COMMUNITIES! It's why, for the most part, any time you talk to any of their vendors, they mostly try to turn you away. This was explicitly shown in the game! That's why Placide stops to give the woman in his neighborhood fresh chicken. There was a whole reason for showing you that. Everything he did was to save the lives of Brigitte and his people, and before ya'll start crying about how I'm sympathetic to them. NO, see point 1: CRIMINAL ORGANIZATION. They are, in fact, criminals. 3. They are not a monolith; they don't even have a central leadership. This should be clear from the conversation with Slider, where he explains that he and Brigitte did not see eye to eye on matters dealing with the black wall. 4. AGAIN, the entire point of their organization was to PROTECT THEIR OWN COMMUNITY. Not destroy civilization. Brigitte explains EXPLICITLY that their goal in contacting Alt was survival. Not the destruction of society. The AI was going to do that, and by extension...ding ding ding CORPORATE GREED! Notice a theme here? They wanted to save their people. Why not anyone else? This brings me to my next few points. 5. Although he is an asshole, Placide takes a very clear anti-capitalist stance, "which is almost the entire point Pondsmith is trying to make with this whole story!" when you first meet him. He explains that the purpose of Pacifica, and also Dogtown, was a pleasure district so that the corps could claw back money from their own employees...It should be noted that THEY are not the ones who ruined Pacifica. A corporate war did that. They just isolated themselves within it. Which is no different from what Hansen did with Dogtown...get it???? 6. The VDBs isolate themselves because, historically, this is what happens when groups of people are marginalized. The nation of Haiti in this world is gone; they're all refugees. They're spat on everywhere they go, "Don't make me pull out real-world examples of this!" so they turned around and said, "Okay then fuck you too!" which...yeah, that's what's gonna happen... 7. All of this is an example of how some of you can't be bothered to digest even the most obvious intent. You saw what you want to see. In the game, there is almost 0 mention or engagement with the concept of racism. There was no need anymore; they had bigger problems, which is why it's a classist system instead. It's why the nomads are treated like shit and called Hicks. It's why the corporate class is despised and called corpos, or suits. And why everyone else is called gutter trash. These are all the new derogatory terms for them.
Faction composed entirely of Haitians They’re all backstabbing retards who want to destroy civilization. What did Mike Pondsmith mean by this?

Onagi Reviews: I Parry Everything! I'm pretty conflicted about this one. Overall, it's a decent show, with a solid premise and likable characters. It has one major flaw: the schtick gets old really quickly. To explain, the main protagonist loses his family at a young age and decides he wants to become an adventurer. To do this, he must learn a skill to earn his license. So he goes to the instructors of each trade school- Swordsman, Warrior, Rogue, Mage, Healer, and Archer- and seemingly fails at all of them...so he goes back home and trains on his own for about 10-15 years. He re-emerges as a day laborer, gets caught up in your typical fantasy-hero shenanigans, and, as it turns out, despite knowing only one sword move, is EXTREMELY overpowered. This is where the problem begins. He pulls off all these feats and saves the kingdom, but no one makes a real effort to understand him or tell him outright that his strength far surpasses anyone they know. Turns out all his teachers knew this, but they created a misunderstanding by not telling him plainly. They all understood his potential but still expelled him from their schools without simply explaining it. And he does this EVERY episode, and no one around him has enough sense to say, "Hey...that was not at all normal." I could go on, but TLDR. My point is that this whole writing mechanic requires a really high bar for suspension of disbelief. Even for an anime. And you're left rolling your eyes every time it happens. It's not funny; it's frustrating. At the very least, I would have ended the season with him earning his adventurer's license...bare minimum. It's rough because I like the premise and the characters, but I almost don't care if it gets another season because I couldn't stomach 12 more episodes of this gag. 5/10 stars...I dunno.

Let me tell you, I CAN COOK. I mean, I've made ramen from scratch, the real stuff, noodles in all. I know Indian, Italian, Mexican, Vietnamese, Thai, Korean, and Irish dishes. I'm bomb in the kitchen, but...THIS is still my go-to lazy meal, DGAF. LOL, needs a bit of salsa, though.
Wife made her favorite child hood snack.... Poor man nachos

Why is this episode so hard? Stuff like this. There are a couple of tricky transitions in this feature. I don't usually do this because it's hard...never animated someone spitting before lol. But it's coming along. About halfway through. Still got some climaxes to animate, which are also kind of a pain. But I'll keep hammering away at it.

Another sequence ready to go, looking pretty good. A few small things I'll still fix, but I like the way some of the lighting is working here. Gonna try and prep one more for the day.

In response to a recent comment, we have done a ton of DOA girl content over the years. That said, there are a few characters we haven't really given a chance to shine just yet. I promise to try and rectify this a bit in 2027...assuming that all is still well anyway.

Almost got this thing ready! Just gonna go sequence by sequence till it's ready to be shipped out. This project has turned out to be bigger than I intended, but it's so good, so I don't really want to cut anything. Jenny is going to be a lot of fun, I think. We're getting there; I'll be switching gears back to Lulu as soon as it gets back to me.

People write in here, leaving comments about the male protagonists. While I appreciate the feedback, you need to understand something. On my end, it doesn't matter which male character I use; people complain! Every time I change it up, people complain. We've done well over 100 features, and I've been at this for over 15 years, and some of you still haven't picked up on the theme here??? Strong, assertive women...That's the point. Always has been. While the male cast will absolutely expand, the formula won't. My intent has always been to make this kind of content for a more general audience, and not weird rapey shit, tons of other people doing that already. Anyway, back to work. And for the love of god, let these male VAs get some work too. Come on!

On the newest addition of "Shots that were hard as FUCK to animate!" LOL, I knew this transition would be tricky; I had a plan in my head for how this would work...and it did not go as well as I'd hoped. This still achieves the desired effect, but Imma keep working on it. Be sure to sub!

Come along with me on a rant! I'm not a physicist or astronomer, but I look at it this way. I just assume that before the universe, there was nothing, no time. "Big assumption there." The Big Bang happens; the universe bursts into existence along with TIME, since we now think of space and time as one thing. If there's a central point in the universe, then there's a central point of time, which expands outward like everything else. (If the universe is expanding, SPACE, then so is TIME. get it?) But it's fluid, malleable, so it ebbs and flows around matter in the universe, being affected by things like speed and gravity. The currents can change like a river, but it's always flowing the same way. Our measurement of time is relative to our perceptions of it, solar cycles, seasons, etc., but I suppose it might be possible that there is an objective baseline passage of time, unaffected by mass or gravity. I always find this stuff funny because so much of the understanding often seems so human-centric. "It's all relative to our perception," but so much happens in the universe regardless of our perception of it.

Project updates, everyone keeps asking, so I'll explain. My priorities for the rest of this year are Lulu, Jenny, Sheeva, the Outworld Finale, and then, if I'm lucky, Taki. All before the year ends; we've got our hands full, and we're working as fast as we can. Lulu vs Dean 85% - Lip sync Phase Jenny The Bat 45% - principle animation Sheeva vs Zack 40% - principal animation Outworld Finale 10% - rough animation stage Taki vs Ryu 10% - rough animation stage

Getting there, It's going slower than I'd like, but I'm almost finished with the opening sequence. I gotta get all of this out of the way before I can get into the fun stuff. A lot of complicated sequences here, but the feel I want is starting to come together. Only a few more shots left to animate. GO SUB!
