At a Tel Aviv event held ahead of Israel’s 27 October election, where far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir spoke, a young Israeli woman told The Guardian that Palestinians should be expelled from Gaza and, if they cannot be displaced, killed, saying Israel should “completely carpet bomb” the Strip. She also rejected Lebanon, Jordan and Syria as places to send Gaza’s population, claiming those countries belong to Israel.

A verse from the Qur’an inspired one man to become a hero for 19 schoolchildren. When a school bus in Minnesota began rolling out of control after its driver suffered a medical emergency, 27-year-old Ebro Ahmed sprang into action. He jumped onto the moving bus and pulled the emergency brake, bringing it to a stop and ensuring all 19 children were safe. Ahmed said one verse from the Qur’an came to mind as he rushed to help: “Whoever saves a life, it will be as if they saved all of humanity.” — Qur’an 5:32 “I didn’t do it for me. It was selflessness in the name of God,” he said.

"There's no life left." These are the words of a volunteer in Bara, a city in Sudan's North Kordofan state, where 50 volunteers have recovered and buried more than 600 bodies following months of violence and reported massacres. According to a Middle East Eye investigation, bodies were found in streets, inside homes, in surrounding villages and along roads to the state capital, el-Obeid. Many victims were civilians, including children and elderly people. Hundreds more are believed to remain unburied, raising fears of disease. Local volunteers accuse the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) of carrying out revenge killings and massacres during their occupation of the area. The Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) recaptured Bara in July 2026, but entire communities have fled, and volunteers are struggling to recover the dead with limited equipment, funding and support. Sudan's civil war erupted in April 2023 from a power struggle between the SAF and RSF. It has since become one of the world's largest humanitarian crises, with more than 11 million people displaced and at least 150,000 believed killed. With little international assistance, Bara's volunteers are recovering bodies, organising burials and sanitising affected areas, often relying on donations from residents and the Sudanese diaspora. As fighting continues and diplomatic efforts fail to secure lasting peace, the people of Bara are left to bury their dead and confront the destruction of their communities.

The Jerusalem Post Australia Summit will be held in Sydney on 19 November. The business and investment event aims to deepen economic ties between Australia and Israel, with defence technology, national security, and cybersecurity among its focus areas. Advertised speakers include former IDF international spokesperson Jonathan Conricus and a former Israeli Air Force commander whose name the organisers have withheld “for security reasons.” Senior figures from NAB, Woolworths, Bunnings and the University of Sydney are also listed. The summit comes as Israel faces genocide proceedings at the International Court of Justice. Chris Sidoti, an Australian member of the UN Commission of Inquiry, has said that anyone who has served in the Israeli military in Gaza since 7 October 2023 “should be treated as a suspect and investigated, and if necessary, prosecuted,” applying to anyone with “any involvement in the war in Gaza.” His remarks sharpen scrutiny of the summit’s corporate line-up, as leaders of some of Australia’s most familiar institutions prepare to take part while Israel’s conduct in Gaza remains before the International Court of Justice. UN World Food Programme Cuts Food Aid to Half a Million Palestinians in Gaza Amid Funding Shortfall The UN World Food Programme (WFP) has announced it will stop monthly food support for around 500,000 people in Gaza, after receiving less than half its usual funding for Palestinian operations this year. The number of people it supports each month will fall from 1.6 million to 1.1 million. Families who remain on the programme will see their rations halved, while daily hot meals will drop from 250,000 to 150,000 and cash support will be reduced for 75,000 families. The agency stressed the decision reflects a lack of money, not a fall in need. Hunger remains severe across the Strip, with roughly 1.4 million people, about two-thirds of the population, facing crisis-level food insecurity or worse. With winter just around the corner, the cuts are expected to hit civilians especially hard, as many families still lack proper shelter and depend almost entirely on aid to survive. The WFP warned that modest gains since last year’s ceasefire could be lost, and has appealed for US$450 million to sustain its work in Gaza and the West Bank through March 2027. The cuts follow a similar move in September, when the agency halved its assistance in the occupied West Bank.

Indian authorities have forcibly evicted over 1,100 Muslim families and demolished more than 10 mosques during a two-day “anti-encroachment” drive in Assam’s Nagaon district. Residents say their families have lived on the land for decades, claiming the government originally settled them there, with older generations working as forest labourers.
