New cafe coming to downtown Amherst “Daymaker” a Matcha Bar & Cafe, 11 E Pleasant St. on street level of the apartment building across from Kendrick Park. This will be the first time this location has had a commercial occupancy. It has been vacant since the building opened.

Garcia’s Mexican Restaurant in downtown Amherst to close. This is the third downtown restaurant to close this summer joining Zhu's Kitchen Asian Bistro & The Taste Thai which both closed earlier this summer as well. Very sad that so many great restaurants can't survive downtown.

Amherst town fair begins tomorrow 8/27 and runs until Sunday on the town common.

Ren's gas station in downtown Amherst to be rebranded as Valero Gas next month! No ownership change, just a new name, new signage & upgraded pumps. There will be a few days of closures while the new pumps & signage are installed. Same owner, same staff, just a new look!

Lao Hu Tong, traditional Chinese restaurant located in downtown Amherst was vandalized early this week. Their front window was smashed. They remain open and still have faith in the Amherst community. So sad, it’s already so challenging running a restaurant. Keep supporting them.

Kendrick Park, northern side of downtown Amherst has new bathroom “The Portland Loo” . Located across the street from The Spoke and next to the Kendrick Park playground.

Aster + Pine Market closing at the end of July. Opened in February 2024 they were not able to consistently maintain strong enough margins to continue so they sadly closing. Another tough loss for downtown Amherst, it’s the 3rd downtown business to close in the last few weeks.

The Taste Thai in downtown Amherst has closed.

Zhu’s Kitchen & Asian Bistro in downtown Amherst has closed. This spot was last home to Oriental Flavor among others. Sadly, despite the prime location right in the center of town this spot has been a revolving door. Something has to stick here eventually. Fingers crossed 🤞.

Amherst Farmers’ Market returns this Saturday, April 18 on the town common and every Saturday from 8:00 to 1:30 until November 21st.

After 28 years McMurphy's Uptown Tavern has closed their doors in their long time location! The last drink was poured yesterday! But they are not going away, they are moving directly across the street! Come support them in there new bigger & renovated location this week!

McMurphy's Uptown Tavern to move into their new location in March! The plan is to vacate their current location during spring break week & open their new location across the street. So sadly only a few weeks remain to visit their legendary location before they vacate it for good.

Zinneken’s Belgian Waffles shop coming to Amherst later this spring. Moving into the spot previously occupied by the studio theater, in-between Go Berry & Osteria Vespa. Zinneken’s slogan is "Belgian waffles made by actual Belgians". zinnekenswaffles.com/

As McMurphy’s Uptown Tavern prepares to move across the street new signs are now up at their new future location. Work continues inside with a TBD opening date in the new location. Until then they continue to be open business as usual in their current long term location.

Amherst Typewriter Shop free grab & go typewriters & supplies this Saturday 9-3pm. As they get ready to demolish the building that also houses McMurphy’s Uptown Tavern they are cleaning out the typewriter shop. 41N. Pleasant St. All free, first come first served.

CVS one of the few corporate franchisees in downtown Amherst is the only place downtown that had not cleared the snow from in front of their building or the walkway into their building. (As of 2pm) maybe it’s a marketing plan, slip & fall outside, then come in & buy first aid 😂

Amherst Typewriter Shop next to McMurphy’s was being cleaned out today into a van & will soon be empty in preparation for both places to be demolished.
