Interesting fact: A high school football game has 48 minutes on the clock.
But a study found the average play lasts just 5.6 seconds. At 130 plays, that’s roughly 12 minutes of actual action between BOTH teams.
Months in the weight room. Summer heat. Film. Practice. All for opportunities measured in literal seconds.
And you don’t know which 5.6 seconds will decide the game.
That backside block you took off? The pursuit you cut short because somebody else would get him?

CBs are now required to understand Safety spacing as well as the basics of the position.
Currently, the NFL is running less man coverage than ever, with disguise a premium.
It's an "add value" league, meaning players have to be able to play multiple spots on the field regardless of position.
The explosion in non-traditional Tampas (NTTs) has CBs playing the "Big Half" in inverted schemes.
This is an elite rep by Ravens CB Marlon Humphrey (44) at the bottom.
His responsibility is half the field, but from an outside-in alignment.
The Colts target the seam in a 3x1 set.
Humphrey's initial stem inside allows him to track and overlap the seam throw.

He isn’t faster than most of these guys so they try to get physical! Being overly aggressive can get you beat. He knows how to use his body and has great feet! Elite even though he’s aging!
