Places that would be absolutely rammed anywhere else on the planet. Carito's is mindblowingly great food at decent prices but in influencer driven BKK... incredible maps.app.goo.gl/3Qgf7hDuccEk… – at Khlong Toei, Thailand

An odd world: 800,000 French march because they want to fix their country and are abused on socials by countless Americans who can't be arsed getting off theirs to save their democracy.

I've bought B three power banks but the inevitable 'can I borrow your power bank' question was followed by an annoyed 'mine are at home!' when I suggested she use hers.

These with socials, people overthink everything. But France has a long history of riots.

Watching journalists cover a BS flying Tesla car instead of the deaths of women and children in Ukraine because Starlink was slowed down is disgusting. It's absolutely disgusting.

There were decades of inevitability leading to this.
According to people on reddit who were at the show, apparently Stamos told the crowd before the gig that the band urged Mike Love not to go on with the show but that he said he wanted to. Still very sad to see.

I wrote a 3-parter for @audioculturenz on the early history of the company that once owned 90% of NZ's music industry and did so ruthlessly. More words about that on Substack: opdiner.substack.com/p/elect…

This is how I cross the road in Hanoi and always worked. Would I be this brave in Bangkok? Hell no, I'd be dead.
In 1984 a German correspondent in Paris explains how to cross Place de la Concorde. "Walk in a steady pace and never look at the drivers, then they'll think you need to stop for them".

Where so much began - the very Empire-ish opening of NZ’s first pressing plant in 1949. 400 local HMV singles flowed from this. Pt. 3 of my history of HMV NZ: the 50s, intrigues and rock 'n’ roll: audioculture.co.nz/articles/…

The second part of my HMV NZ history: early retail, the war years (where they made more radios for the military than anyone) and the postwar move into pressing and then, reluctantly, local music audioculture.co.nz/articles/…

It's always strange how the US uses its unparalleled military and economic power to strangle and suffocate the economies of small nations it dislikes, then points to the intended devastation as proof that those countries are bad and don't work, with no reference to the US role.

You get over confident in France: you teach yourself a phrase and cautiously use it, only to hear a French person use it and realise that you are speaking gibberish and people are just being polite.
