Experiencing growing pains when it comes to your QPUs? You’re not alone! As quantum systems scale, new challenges emerge at every layer of the stack ⚛️🤔 Our second blog post explores why scaling qubit numbers matters, how many qubits may be required for useful, fault-tolerant quantum computation, the trade-offs across different qubit platforms, and what researchers are doing to overcome these constraints 💡🐠 Read “Growing Pains” now: qruise.com/resources/blog/gr… 🐙 #QuantumComputing #QuantumTech

We had a great time at the @OpenSuperQPlus progress meeting last week in Finland 🇫🇮 It was energising to see the progress each of the project partners have made and to delve into important discussions on the current challenges and how best to solve them 💡 A special highlight was the exchange with @AdriaanRol of @orangeqs about the unique demands of quantum control at scale ⚛️ The aim of the OSQ+ project is to develop a large-scale, fault-tolerant quantum computer with up to 1,000 qubits. The system will be accessible to external users, fostering progress and innovation across Europe. As part of this, Qruise is adapting its machine learning software to enable accurate digital twins, streamlined control, and seamless integration with OSQ+ hardware ✨ #OpenSuperQPlus #QuantumComputing

Five years ago our @qudev Lab at @ETH_physics, @ETH Zürich published our work on Repeated #Quantum Error Detection in a Surface Code (@NaturePhysics 16, 875–880 (2020)). This was one of the important steps for us towards realizing fault-tolerant quantum computation with superconducting circuits, a goal which our lab pursues since almost 10 years. Read more about it on this web site: nature.com/articles/s41567-0… or in a free-to-read pdf here: rdcu.be/d87Bd . The work was done by Christian Kraglund Andersen (now professor at @QuTech_news @tudelft), @AntsRemm (now at @AtlanticQuantum), Stefania Lazar, @SebKrinner (now both at @Zhinst), @NathanLacroix, Graham J. Norris (now at @awscloud), @MGabureac (now at @psich_en), and @eichler__chris (now professor @UniFAU). The work was supported by @IARPAnews, the Swiss National Science Foundation @snsf_ch, the EU @QuantumFlagship with the @OpenSuperQPlus predecessor OpenSuperQ, and @ETH_en Zürich.
