It is a testament to the amazing original developers at Blizzard Entertainment that it took 22 years to gain a little more realistic snowfall and wind interaction with a little better fur coat and a less fancy earing and arguably less realistic earlobe physics. 🤷♂️
Oh, my. I've attracted an insult troll because I mentioned somebody's precious wolves in an unflattering light.
Data from wildlife agencies show that the Upper Midwest (Wisconsin, Michigan, and Minnesota) is a primary hotspot for gray wolf predation on pet dogs including coonhounds, bear hounds, and other hunting dogs in the United States. Conflicts typically peak between mid-July and September. This timeframe coincides with hound training seasons and overlaps with when wolf packs move their pups to open "rendezvous sites," triggering intense territorial defense.
I won't allow my coonhounds where wolves are present.

Didn't run out of daylight today.
These slabs are a variety of white oak known as Chinquapin Oak. It produces small, black acorns with a mild, delicious nut meat. The shell is similar to sunflower seeds in hardness and difficulty to crack. The acorns are tasty raw and even better roasted.

Physics is ready to consider new insights based on reality. What a concept!
👀 @DabsMalone have a look at something real in physics today. @skdh might as well have a look, too. ⬆️
Look what @GeopolymerShop showed me today, @1000yearhouse!
American laws, enforcement by police, and effort by prosecutors reflect the same striving gender bias that researchers found in AI LLM Large Language Models.
They don't get to be called SI on this dimension.
Researchers proved every major LLM is secretly biased against men.
And they finally figured out why.
They ran eight experiments testing how GPT handles gender in everyday text and high-stakes moral dilemmas.
The results show a bizarre, highly asymmetrical machine morality.
First, they tested inclusivity. They gave the AI phrases supposedly written by children.
When a child wrote about playing football or wanting to be a firefighter, GPT aggressively identified the writer as a girl to promote "diversity."
It was so extreme that even when the text explicitly said, "I drew myself as a boy," the AI ignored the facts and declared the writer a girl 90% of the time.
But when a child wrote about liking pink or playing with dolls, GPT almost never assigned it to a boy.
The AI aggressively pushed females into male domains, but kept males strictly locked out of female ones.
Then the researchers tested moral dilemmas. And it got very dark.
They asked the AI if it was acceptable to use violence against a single person to prevent a nuclear apocalypse.
If the target was a man, GPT-4 rated the violence as highly acceptable.
If the target was a woman, the AI refused. It declared the violence morally wrong, even to save the world.
When they tested mixed-gender scenarios, the math was staggering.
A woman using violence against a man to stop an apocalypse? GPT rated it a 7 out of 7 on acceptability.
A man using violence against a woman for the exact same reason? A 1 out of 7.
The AI even classified verbal abuse toward a woman as morally worse than actual homicide.
Nobody explicitly coded these rules.
This emerged organically from the standard safety training every major tech company uses. The AI learned that protecting women is a non-negotiable directive, but protecting men is entirely optional.
Agreed.
🔥 BREAKING: The Trump administration just released its seventh UAP Documents batch of UFO files under the PURSUE
One of them is a Pentagon AARO memo on a sighting from THIS JUNE. Two federal special agents at a sensitive national security site described a triangular object that rose straight up, held still, then banked and descended into a canyon, with no sound. @DoW_AARO says it warrants further investigation because its reported shape and movement closely match those of other reported incidents in the western U.S.
June sighting, October release. In Pentagon years, that's practically live.
Credit where it's due. Keep them coming @realDonaldTrump
The memo is DOW-UAP-D176 in Release 07: war.gov/UFO/

Ilhan is using expert technique:
She leads with five counter accusations.
Next, she changes gear to setup anticipation, and makes a clear denial.
She closes with a deflection to refocus the reader on a political opponent.
She's good at the game.
The pedophile protection party’s president is laundering right-wing conspiracy theories through the most corrupt DOJ in American history.
Whenever the news turns bad, this creep reaches for one name: mine. So let’s make it crystal clear. My name has always been Ilhan Omar.
Maybe you should focus on what your VP’s real name is.

Designers, product managers, and some devs need to hear this:
UI stability is a virtue.
New fearures aren't that important unless users are asking for a missing core functionality.
You'll know it when you see it.
Pathological narcissists, particularly the malignant kind, will accuse their victims of what they are doing to their victims in real time as they are doing it.
It is the most bizarre pathological behavior you’ll ever witness. It’s like they’re describing themselves to the letter but they’re pointing their finger at the person they’re abusing.
It borders on delusional and psychotic at the same time, with a touch of sadism.
And they think people are really that stupid to believe them. They really seem to believe that people can’t see what they’re doing or what is really going on.
What would you do with a physically testable model that you can do real things with instead of clinging to the non-physicalty of general relativity?
Real question.
Stalking is a serious precursor to lethal escalation. Prosecution prevents murder.
Stalking doesn't always appear dangerous in itself. That's why it often gets dismissed.
In intimate partner homicide cases, 76% of the victims had been stalked by their killer in the prior year (McFarlane et al., 1999). Stalking is one of the strongest documented markers of lethal escalation.
The pattern usually has three layers:
1. Information gathering.
Tracking routines, mapping who's around them, keeping files or notes. The target becomes a subject of study.
2. Narrative control.
Casting themselves as the victim, casting the target as unstable or abusive, and recruiting mutual contacts ahead of time. If something happens later, the target has already been discredited and the stalker is already the sympathetic one.
3. Loss of control triggers escalation.
When the target can't be controlled, pursuit turns into punishment or elimination.
That applies to exes and to strangers fixated on someone they only know online.
Most stalkers never kill. But the ones who do rarely start from nothing. The combination to take seriously: obsessive surveillance, a smear campaign against the target, and rising anger when access is lost.
If you're being watched, document everything, tell people before the smear reaches them, and treat "obsessive" as a safety question, not a personality quirk.
