$MU is funding an expansion of Indium Corporation’s refining in Rome, New York, with a long term supply agreement attached, as part of its US$3bn US supply chain plan.
Indium is also the offtake partner on Metallium’s 10-year agreement for gallium, germanium and other critical metals recovered from e scrap, so the buyer at the end of the @Metallium_MTM chain now has a US memory maker funding its growth.

Disclosure: I'm engaged by Metallium as a strategic advisor.

$LPTH interview
Sam "If I wasn't in blackout I would buy all the shares I could"
@RADHardTech "Can you give any insight into the upcoming earnings report in 2 weeks?"
Sam "I can't discuss earnings, but I know the numbers"

The Gooch & Housego take private reads well for $LPTH, and the reason is in what G&H's own board said when it recommended the sale.
It listed germanium price inflation among the risks to its standalone plan, from a business with defence revenue up over 50% and a record order book, so the pressure isn't demand, it's the cost and security of the material that sits under most Western IR optics, and that's the exact problem @lightpathtech has spent years building around with BlackDiamond glass melted in Orlando and Texas.
G&H's CEO also said US defence customers want these products made in North America and that getting there needs investment it couldn't easily make as a listed company, while LightPath has already agreed to sell its China plant and runs a US and Latvia footprint, so it's selling into that demand now rather than raising capital to build towards it.
The buyer matters too, as Arlington is the defence PE firm behind BlueHalo, and a 41% premium for defence optics capacity says strategic money now sees this layer of the supply chain as worth owning, alongside the Department of War funding BlackDiamond as a germanium alternative through CLEAR and the NDAA germanium restrictions arriving in December 2027.
Incumbents facing rising material costs and a push for domestic supply, with LightPath already positioned on both, is why I see this as a bullish read through rather than just another optics deal.
🤝 Exclusive: DC-based defense private equity firm Arlington Capital Partners completed a £345.6M ($460.6M) acquisition of British photonics company Gooch & Housego.
Arlington plans to make major investments to expand G&H’s US production capacity to meet booming demand for optical systems, laser weapon components, UAV sensors, and more.

Building in the US
New piece on @IondriveASX $ION.AX and its Oklahoma update.
I spend a lot of my time with Aus companies building in the US, and this one stood out to me for more than the US$5.2m headline.
* Why I think the US entity and a local operator who has done this in Oklahoma before matter more than the incentive number
* How ION is stacking state incentives, a USDA guaranteed US$18m debt facility and discretionary grants to fund its first module without leaning on the register
* What I take from three levels of US government lining up behind an Australian rare earth recycler, with the 2027 defence magnet rules sitting behind it
