I am not anti-AI but I want to make a case for why real artists are always going to be valuable: Ideation. AI cannot create new ideas. A prompter might be able to use AI as a tool to create new ideas by providing those new ideas in the prompt but that level of control is limited by the number of ideas you can express. e.g. if I provide a character description: blue female dragon. I have only provided three traits to control. On the other hand if I provide the same three traits to an artist there is more created than the information of "blue, female, dragon" being connected together because the artist's independent thought and personal style will apply a filter across the idea that will make it unique in a way that AI cannot. The AI may provide a good, competent rendering of what you ask for, but it lacks independent thought and creativity and so it cannot add that flair that a human artist can. In a lot of ways AI art is like building images from a large set of legos. Only human artists can create new legos. If everything you need is in the large set of legos, great, that's probably a good tool for you, but it takes the divine spark to create new legos and I believe that's why even as AI tools improve and flourish we will never be without a need for creatives to add new ideas.
