Robert Redford's passing (Gene Hackman's too) braces us for the end of a great era. Consider:
Clint Eastwood is 95
Robert Duvall is 94
Jack Nicholson is 88
Warren Beatty is 88
Dustin Hoffman is 88
Jane Fonda is 87
Al Pacino is 85
Faye Dunaway is 84
Robert DeNiro is 82
*Sigh*
BIG tackle there short of the goal line. Time keeps running. Then a nice stop on 1st-and-goal. Whew!
Mark Bowman is obviously on a pitch count tonight. He’s not out there right now and we desperately need him. The dropoff to the next guy at TE is beyond precipitous.
Would love Riley to work the middle of the field a little more, both running and passing. These little perimeter plays/screens against a very fast defense are inviting problems. We hit the early TD to Mosley but since then the Buckeyes have solved those.
Freshman RJ Sermons has turned into a special teams demon. He has embraced that aspect while awaiting his opportunity as a CB. Give me that kind of player any day. (PS - elite speed and massive potential).
If I’m trying to beat Ohio St, I am not drawing up plays for #24. We have so many other skill players who can win one-on-ones.
Maiava needs to ground that ball on that little-play action pass to the flat. Two defenders were all over it. Don’t take any chances.
Desman Stephens had a terrific stop on 1st down and then missed a tackle on the very next play for 10 yds. The yin and the yang. But USC’s defense IS attacking, they’re playing downhill today. Not passive at all.
Whew. Did the rain keep Jeremiah Smith from making that catch? I think so. Turf is very slippery. This weather is nuts.
Don’t know what was more impressive - Bowman hurdling that guy, or Bowman staying on his feet after taking some shots downfield. Just a 1 of 1 kind of athlete out there.
