🇺🇬𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽 𝘁𝗼 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺: 𝗖𝗮𝗻 𝗨𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮'𝘀 𝗔𝗜 𝗖𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘂𝗺 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗲? In partnership with @Educ_SportsUg, we worked with tutors at the 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗧𝘂𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀’ 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲, 𝗠𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗴𝗼, to begin integrating 𝗽𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗔𝗜 into Uganda’s Competency-Based Curriculum. The focus was on empowering the trainers who shape the nation’s future health heroes. This partnership went beyond introducing a new tool. We focused on laying the foundation for 𝗔𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗔𝗜—systems that can work alongside people to tackle real local challenges in health, agriculture, and beyond. By starting with tutors, knowledge and practice can spread naturally across the education system rather than remaining confined to isolated pilots. Our work identifies systemic barriers to scaling this effort across the Uganda 1. 𝗘𝘅𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗘𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗿𝘀: Deficits in foundational digital infrastructure and sustainable funding models. 2. 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗶𝘁𝘆: Gaps in technical proficiency among educators and strategic leadership to guide integration. 3. 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: The challenge of translating technical knowledge into altered pedagogical workflows and addressing attendant ethical considerations. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗶𝗺 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗰𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘀𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀. Doing so requires a shift from fragmented pilot projects to a coherent innovation ecosystem, where domain expertise sets direction and locally grounded AI tools strengthen problem solving capacity.

𝗨𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗻𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗰𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝗶𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘁. Otic’s 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺 (𝗜𝗜𝗣) is built for what comes next, helping insurers and bancassurance use Agentic AI to reach new customers, make microinsurance work at scale, and handle greater volumes at a lower cost. 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗨𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮’𝘀 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗔𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗔𝗜 𝗖𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗚𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 Uganda’s industrial ambition under NDP IV and the ATMS Tenfold Growth Strategy will require more than digital adoption. AI must move beyond skilling and experimentation into deployment at national scale. Our experience deploying enterprise-grade Agentic AI across Uganda’s private sector has shown what practical AI deployment looks like at institutional level. That experience carries a broader national responsibility to build 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗔𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗔𝗜 𝗰𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗚𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗨𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮. In this context, we recently met @EngJonard 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 in the Office of the President in charge of @STIsecretariat to discuss the pathway towards national deployment. A national rollout will require coordinated priorities across Government, identifying the right institutions and use cases, defining sovereign architecture and security requirements, and sequencing deployment across Ministries, Departments and Agencies. Partnerships matter most when they strengthen the systems a country will need for what comes next. The signing of our MoU with @RENU_256 brings together research, connectivity, talent and applied AI around a shared national priority: strengthening the infrastructure and institutional capacity that can translate Uganda’s AI potential into productivity, innovation and new industries.
