On #AfricanUnionDay, I celebrate Africa’s unity, leadership and growing voice in shaping our shared future. My visit to the African Union headquarters in Addis Ababa last month, including my meeting with H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, Chairperson of the African Union Commission, reaffirmed a strong conviction: a more effective United Nations requires a stronger, more equal and more strategic AU–UN partnership. The UN of the future must have Africa at its heart. Happy African Union Day! 🌍 @ymahmoudali @_AfricanUnion @UN

🌍 Africa celebrates an historic moment! Maps matter! They influence how people understand the world. An inaccurate map can create misleading perceptions about #Africa's importance, scale, and role in global affairs. Correcting the map helps align perceptions with reality.

#CorrectTheMap #AfricaIsNotSmall #AfricanUnion @MitchMcCannNZ @featurestory @rdussey @AfricanUnionUN #CedomirKovacev #UNStudio

Why does the AWLN Global Women Leadership Forum 2026 matter❓ Africa and the world are navigating geopolitical uncertainty, democratic challenges, climate change and widening financing gaps. Responding to these shifts demands inclusive governance and leadership that reflects the diversity, aspirations and potential of all citizens. Yet women remain significantly underrepresented in political leadership and continue to face structural barriers to decision-making, financing and networks of influence. On 26 September 2026, on the margins of #UNGA81, AWLN, the African Union and UNDP, through the Africa Facility to Support Women's Political Leadership, will convene the second edition of the Global Women Leadership Forum to champion African women's leadership in global governance. Reimagining Global Governance: Championing Women's Leadership for Lasting Impact. #AWLNGlobalForum #AWLNUNGA_81
