Wow, this is what Yemen looked like in the 1960s under British rule. That was over half a century ago, but it looked decades more advanced than Yemen does today. It’s almost unbelievable compared to what the country has become. And it’s a testament to how quickly a country can collapse once Islam reigns supreme.

Brace yourself, Matthew Parris, you’re about to be smeared on a huge scale ‘ Putin apologist!’ Neville Chamberlain!!’ ‘ Lord Haw Haw’. The yapping chihuahuas of war will be seething round your ankles, snapping and biting. ‘Only diplomacy can end the war in Ukraine’ thetimes.com/article/67dac40…

If high taxes and a big welfare state worked, France would be a utopia. The citizens would be dancing on the streets… instead they are the civil unrest capital of Europe. On the flip side, Switzerland with its low tax, small state is peaceful, calm, affluent and secure. Good Intentions don’t matter. Good outcomes do.
Tocqueville’s paradox: it is in the most equal societies that people find inequalities most intolerable.

The most brutal part of Monday morning isn't the work itself It's watching millions of deeply exhausted adults immediately snap back into a highly-taxed survival loop they spent the entire weekend desperately trying to escape The machine doesn't care how tired you are

This is insane. How did we possibly reject this?! It's a fantastic deal.
Ukrainian MP confirms that 2023 peace plan, which was reported by @FT & accepted by Putin but rejected by Zelensky & Biden administration, envisioned: "- Russia withdraws its troops from most of the four oblasts it had just declared “annexed.” - The new line of demarcation runs roughly along the line as of February 24, 2022: Crimea and the part of Donbas that Russia controlled before the full-scale invasion. - Ukraine recognizes Russian control over Crimea. - Ukraine grants Russia an unobstructed land corridor to Crimea. - The ceasefire regime is guaranteed by NATO countries that provide protection for Ukraine. - Russia begins negotiations with the US on its own security guarantees. -Moreover, Russia was ready to give up the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant as well. -And the 300 billion in frozen assets was to go toward rebuilding all of Ukraine, that is, together with the occupied territories. -As for Crimea: we were not required to recognize it as Russian, only to recognize Russia’s control over it. In other words, we acknowledge that right now it is under Russian control (which is how it is). We were also required to adopt a law banning the return of Crimea by military means. -The land corridor to Crimea, a highway and a railway, was to be built at Russia’s expense. The hardest question was how to guard it. That is why the Russians were ready to give up Melitopol, but not Tokmak: they feared we would cut the corridor with artillery. -Zelensky rejected this proposal at the time."

Fact: A ‘crosswind’ is perfectly safe to take off in until it becomes far angrier and develops into an ‘I’m fine wind.’

I wake up. I go on X. Wes Streeting says we must be ready for war with Russia. Fuck off. The BBC says the riots across Europe are mostly peaceful. Fuck off. Mehdi Hasan whining about everyone being a racist. Fuck off. New poll shows Labour lead in the polls increasing. Fuck off. Sadiq Khan says Britain should rejoin the EU. Fuck off. … that’s an awful lot of fuck off for a Sunday morning.

A possibly explanation for this scaremongering could be unrelated to Russia but they are being used to scare people! It could be all out war in Middle East started by Trump that triggers terrorist sleeper cells in the UK and abroad!

"business friendly socialism"......is a "Deluded Oxymoron" or even a "two bottles of sherry deep Oxymoron". Unless we see tax cuts for business alongside reduction in labour costs, regulations and redistribution policies then no.....it's deluded!
They are first steps, but in the budget Burnham and Healey are going to try to signal their distinct direction of travel. A bold budget this week will deliver the business-friendly socialism Britain badly needs observer.co.uk/news/national…

Its all so hostile.....why do the politicians not realise how much we need these people! If you compiled a list of all the steps to take if you want to chase capital overseas this Labour Government and even Tory's are hitting every one!

These people actually walk among us! We paid £61bn in debt interest in the first 6 months of this year! You’d be lucky if even 1% of that debt interest was infrastructure!
The panic over the interest rate of the National Debt is overhyped since about two thirds is owed to domestic investors like pension funds so investing for infrastructure development can be doubly advantageous
