Note that the shift of Catholics was among the most dramatic. It's past time for sustained Dem outreach to Catholics. The GOP and conservative organizations have targeted Catholics since Reagan, spending millions in election after election.
Republicans lost ground with every group Trump won in 2024, except white evangelicals.

I'm pleased to note that the latest exit polls reported by @NBCNews report what has become a truth in American politics. The party that wins the Catholic vote wins.

In 2007, Abdul El-Sayed delivered the University of Michigan’s student commencement address. Bill Clinton took the stage next and had this to say: "I wish every person in the world who believes that we are fated to have a clash of civilizations and cannot reach across the religious divides could've heard you speak today."

Gov. Christie on ABC, rightly, saying that JD Vance, "who wrote a book on Catholicism," stood by Vivek's disgraceful ad and, in fact, condemned those who criticised it. J.D. Vance's indecent, disgraceful career should end at the Vice Presidency, an office he never deserved.

I need everyone to pause and acknowledge Zelensky in all of this. Ukraine has been chipping away at bot farms...and they timed it perfectly so Trump and Elon and co wouldn't have time to "fix" the damage done to their false social media support The drop-off in bots was immediate and exposed things exactly when it was most important A hero in every sense, that guy.

Dear @marcorubio: Your days of disrespecting and lying to the American people are over. Stop treating us like fools. Take down the below @StateDept post. You know that Europe did not give Greenland to America as a gift. Stop lying and amplifying lies.
PRESIDENT TRUMP on EUROPE: They just gave the United States the greatest gift we were ever given. Do you know what it was? Greenland.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Greenland remains a self-governing territory of Denmark and was not given to the United States. A September 2026 security agreement expands US military cooperation but reaffirms Danish sovereignty over the island. stm.dk/media/fx1h4fqx… politifact.com/article/2026/s… diis.dk/en/research/tr…

To all of the people I pleaded with in Europe and Asia over the last two years do not write off America yet, I told you so. I know , we have a long ways to go. Trump is president for 2 years. But the Trump era is winding down. The possibility of American renewal is swelling.

One lesson for Dems tonight — religion and empathy win. Yes, it’s the economy. But the religion and empathy are foundational.

Ban all Russian passports. We wouldn’t accept ISIS passports and Russia is far worse terrorist organization. The monsters who planned and executed this massacre will be looking over their shoulders the rest of their hopefully short lives.
Russians have released drone footage of them dropping a multi-ton guided bomb on a school in Zaporizhzhia, setting it to pop music. This strike killed over 30 people. This is Russian culture.

Trump is an aberration. Russia and the PRC are inherently hostile to open, democratic societies. Whatever affinity for authoritarianism Putin and Xi may have enjoyed in their dealings with Trump will not survive his presidency. Nor will there be a new world order founded on a Thrasymachean conception of international relations, in which might makes right, great powers dictate the fate of weaker nations, and sovereignty is respected only insofar as it serves the interests of the powerful. This is the international order that Putin and Xi would like to impose, but their ambitions are far from assured, particularly once this shameful period in U.S. history comes to an end.
If there is a Trump-Putin-Xi meeting in China, many will call that the dawn of a new world order. But that is wrong. The next U.S. president likely won’t be as friendly to either dictator. Trump can destroy the current world order, sure. But he can’t build a new one by partnering with America’s adversaries. Our interests and values are simply not aligned.

Please remember all the anti-democratic dogs that did not bark today. ICE did not intimidate or arrest voters at polling stations. Trump's attempt to disenfranchise voters in California failed miserably. Trump's planned shenanigans in Alaska no longer matter. Dems already won the Senate. And we dont have to wait anxiously to see what the House clerk will do on January 3rd regarding the seating of newly elected members. This blowout makes that anti-democratic tactic completely untenable now. Democrats won big tonight. But so too did democracy. Those who predicted democracy's death in America were mistaken.

In January, a new Congress will take office. As a former U.S. Ambassador to Canada, I urge its members to make repairing our relationship with Canada an early priority. Canada is our neighbor, our friend, and an essential partner. The work of reconciliation should begin now.
