The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) announced its intent to help fund 31 grid-improvement projects in 26 states as part of their SPARK initiative. PPL Electric Utilities Corporation and Duquesne Light Company were among the selected projects. More: buff.ly/7uRtLtf

Advanced transmission projects get $1.9B in DOE funding

The department expects the projects will add 23 GW in grid capacity and will come online in “record time” to improve the existing transmission system.
