Great time yesterday with @MagnusCarlsen at Bar 64 #Barcelona after the Move Cup press conference. He was super friendly as we discussed the heavy focus on modern theory... and even played some #dragonchess! Look closely at f1: yes, that's the dragon right there! 🐲♟️

18 countries have declined to participate in the U-15 World Cup after Russia was allowed to compete.
Thank you for support, friends!
Representatives of all 211 FIFA member associations, including Russia, were invited to the tournament in Azerbaijan.
The U-15 tournament will mark the first international FIFA event to include a Russian team since its suspension from all competitions at the start of the full-scale invasion.
The event is being widely ignored by European nations and major global federations: 18 UEFA representatives: Ukraine, Germany, the Netherlands, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia, Finland, Iceland, Armenia, the Faroe Islands, Liechtenstein, and San Marino-as well as the US national team, have refused to participate. Meanwhile, some participating countries reported that while they will attend, they will refuse to play against Russia.

As the article is about a women's team, that is forced to bring in a male player due to gender balance rules, I do find it journalistically logical to cover that game.
As well, from a chess-perspective, it was the best game.

Indian chess friends:
Do you actually consider Karjakin a friend, but not a illegal war supporter ?

The Russian 🇷🇺 Rapid Team Championship has started.
In 4. place is the "Friendship of the people of Russia 🇷🇺 " team, from illegally occupied Donetsk 🇺🇦
The Ukrainian 🇺🇦 Chess Federation has officially protested to FIDE, who however not even cared to reply.

Russian prosecutors have withdrawn a lawsuit seeking to confiscate assets from world chess president Timur Turlov. Sources cited by Kommersant had linked the case to his donations to humanitarian projects in Ukraine. meduza.io/en/news/2026/10/15…
As Hikaru has released his preparation for the WC-match against Magnus that never was to be, it feels only fair we release ours too:
Many astute observers have noted that @GMJSindarov and I are at the same hotel in Cyprus for the same dates, and they're questioning if I'm on Sindarov's World Championship Prep Team. While I'm not, I am advising him in a limited capacity about 2.Ke2. The OG prep was for an eventual WC match against Magnus, but as that won't be happening, the world deserves to have this prep in the open, so I'm sharing it. I've also heard that Magnus is sharing his 2.Ke2 prep with @DGukesh. Good Luck to Sindarov and Gukesh, may the best 2.Ke2 win!
I do not agree with the idea that we have to "sacrifice" to reach the top.
It might seem like that to others perhaps, but for those involved it should ideally be driven by interest and curiosity.
What would you sacrifice to reach the top in chess? In my new podcast, Pragg's coach GM RB Ramesh (@Rameshchess) shares his training philosophy and advice on how to become the best. Do not miss this if you want to improve your chess👇
The Chess Federation of Ukraine 🇺🇦 has protested the upcoming Russian🇷🇺 Rapid and Blitz Championship, which again, includes teams from illegally occupied territories of Ukraine.

FIDE must react,
