Prep Hoops Recruiting Toolkit

Two things that would help college recruiting: 1️⃣No scholarship offers prior to Jan 1 of junior year. 👉 Less pressure to offer immediately 2️⃣Require schools to publish offers to a public database. Must officially remove offer if it no longer stands. 👉 Increased transparency

ATTENTION PROSPECTS: Nothing impacts a live evaluation more than focused urgency in a highly competitive environment. 1️⃣Sprint the floor 2️⃣Fly to the boards 3️⃣Dive on balls 4️⃣Keep your hands active 5️⃣Use your voice!!! 🗣 Play with a motor!!!

ATTENTION PROSPECTS: The most efficient scorers shoot 40-45% from the floor👉colleges don’t want to recruit someone who only brings value 40-45% of the time. 🚨How do you impact the game when you’re NOT making shots⁉️ 🗣Focus on the things you can control every possession.

ATTENTION PROSPECTS: No matter where your talents take you, every playing career has a shelf life. 🗣Talent expires. Character lasts a lifetime.

ATTENTION PROSPECTS: Your parents and club coaches are getting ready to make some massive sacrifices for this July to happen for you and your team. 🗣️Frequent expressions of gratitude are strongly recommended

ATTENTION PROSPECTS: Getting recruited isn’t about being good at everything. It’s about doing what you’re good at, and more importantly, not doing what you’re not. 🗣Just be you. No more, no less. I promise, if you’ve put in the work, that will be enough.

ATTENTION YOUTH COACHES: I’ve never left a game thinking a team won because of their sets. Kids need to learn spacing and how to play without the 🏀. They need to learn to stay connected & swivel their head defensively. They need SKILL. You’re building players, not playbooks.

ATTENTION YOUTH PLAYERS: Look at the 2021 class in your state to see how many kids made it to the college level, let alone earned a scholarship. Those numbers hold pretty steady year to year. Some at the top stay on top. Many fall off. Those who work move up. Go get your spot.

🗣ATTENTION PROSPECTS: The most underrated skill of an elite shooter is the self-confidence to continue to hunt and take shot in the midst of a slump. Regardless of your last shot, or last 100 shots, great shooters hunt and take open looks when they get them.
