Access to maternal health information depends not only on what is shared, but also on whether everyone can understand and participate.
Through the Accelerate programme, a routine health education session at GK Prison Dispensary in Kajiado provided information on the importance of starting antenatal care early after pregnancy is confirmed.
When a deaf participant joined the session, a staff member with sign-language interpretation skills helped her follow the discussion and access the information being shared.
This practical approach to communication helped remove a barrier to participation and shows how inclusive health education can help people with disabilities access information needed to make informed maternal health decisions.

A young woman’s aspirations can become more attainable when she has the knowledge, skills and opportunities to pursue them.
In Tsangatsini, Kilifi County, 20 adolescent girls and young women who completed a mentorship through the A360 Bridge to Accelerate programme subsequently registered for vocational training, choosing courses in fashion design and tailoring, hairdressing and beauty.
The mentorship connected sexual and reproductive health information with life skills, goal setting and vocational learning, demonstrating how integrated approaches can link young women’s health and wellbeing with their future aspirations.
Through A360, PS Kenya supports girl-centered approaches that recognize young women’s ambitions and connect them with opportunities to shape their futures.

Maternal healthcare depends on more than reaching a health facility. Women also need continued support to remain connected to care throughout pregnancy.
At Iftin Level 4 Hospital in Garissa, Community Health Promoters help bridge the gap between facility services and households by connecting pregnant women to antenatal care, following up on missed appointments and sharing information on pregnancy danger signs and birth preparedness.
Through the Accelerate programme, PS Kenya and its partners are strengthening community–facility linkages that support continuity of maternal healthcare and bring primary healthcare services closer to families.
This approach demonstrates the value of connecting facility-based care with community-level follow-up to build a more responsive and connected health system.

Knowing the signs is important.
But awareness must also lead somewhere.
People need trusted information, supportive conversations, and access to appropriate health services when they notice something concerning.
At PS Kenya, we continue to support healthier communities by strengthening access to health information, encouraging timely care-seeking, and working with partners to bring health support closer to people.
Because awareness becomes meaningful when it helps someone take the next step.

Introducing digital tools into community health is only part of the solution; understanding how they work in practice is essential to determining their value for frontline care.
Through the Medic Afya study in Bungoma, PS Kenya is examining the use of HealthPulse AI by Community Health Promoters managing suspected malaria cases.
The study provides an opportunity to understand how CHPs interact with the tool, how it fits into their interpretation of malaria test results and what challenges or opportunities emerge during its use.
While CHPs are using the technology in community-level care, the study is generating evidence on its practical application and potential contribution to frontline decision-making.
These findings can help inform future decisions on the use of digital decision-support tools within primary healthcare.
By examining both the practical experience of CHPs and the role of technology in care delivery, PS Kenya is building an evidence base to guide more responsive, context-appropriate digital health interventions.

When young people seek Sexual Reproductive Health and Right and HIV services, the way a provider handles their questions, privacy and personal concerns can shape their experience of care.
Through the Tiko Programme, PS Kenya works with private facilities in the Tunza network to assess clinical governance, identify gaps and guide improvements in provider accountability and safeguarding.
Supported facilities have recorded clinical-governance scores above 90%, demonstrating strong performance against the programme’s assessment criteria.
These assessments help facilities monitor whether established standards are being upheld and identify where further action is needed to protect young people’s rights and improve their experience of care.
For young people, the intended benefit is care delivered with greater accountability, respect for confidentiality and attention to their individual needs.
By monitoring standards and guiding improvements, PS Kenya helps Tunza facilities maintain services that young people can approach with confidence.

When girls can communicate their needs, make informed decisions and manage their resources, they are better equipped to navigate challenges and pursue their ambitions.
Through Binti Shupavu Skills, part of A360 programme, girls develop practical skills in communication, decision-making and financial literacy that they can apply in their everyday lives.
These skills help girls express their opinions, weigh the consequences of their choices, manage money and make informed decisions about their health and relationships.
They also equip them to think critically about their options and take practical steps towards their personal goals.
By combining life skills with sexual and reproductive health information and peer connections, PS Kenya helps girls build the knowledge and agency to make choices that reflect their needs, values and aspirations.

Young people need more than access to sexual and reproductive health services; they need clear information, respectful counselling and the freedom to make informed decisions about their health.
Through the Tiko Programme and PS Kenya’s Tunza network, quality-assured services help young people understand their options, ask questions without fear of judgement and make choices that reflect their individual needs.
When providers offer accurate information and respond to young people’s concerns, they can make decisions with greater clarity and confidence.
Strong clinical governance helps ensure that these standards of care are consistently upheld across the Tunza network.
By prioritizing quality counselling and young people’s experiences, PS Kenya contributes to Sexual Reproductive Health and Right services that respect their autonomy and enable them to make informed choices about their health and wellbeing.

Universal Health Coverage starts with ensuring that people can access essential healthcare where they live, while helping health teams understand and respond to their needs.
Through malaria programme, PS Kenya builds the capacity of Community Health Promoters (CHPs) to bring malaria services closer to households, recognize suspected cases, conduct rapid diagnostic tests, provide treatment for uncomplicated malaria and refer patients who need further care.
Beyond providing care, CHPs collect and report community-level malaria data through health information systems, helping health teams track cases, monitor service delivery and identify gaps that require attention.
This connects individual care with the evidence needed to guide decisions at community and county levels.
By equipping CHPs to deliver services and generate reliable health information, PS Kenya contributes to stronger primary healthcare systems, more timely access to malaria diagnosis and treatment, and progress towards Universal Health Coverage, where access to essential care is not determined by how far someone lives from a health facility.

Completing TB treatment takes more than access to medication. Patients may also need emotional encouragement and practical strategies to navigate the challenges that can make it difficult to stay on treatment.
“Some days were difficult. I would feel tired and discouraged, but I reminded myself why I needed to complete my treatment. Talking to others going through the same experience also helped me stay focused.”
At Mama Lucy Hospital in Embakasi Central, people receiving treatment for drug-sensitive tuberculosis (TB) came together for a psychosocial support session focused on treatment adherence.
By sharing their experiences, participants could draw encouragement from others who understand the realities of living with TB and managing its treatment.
Through #TB programme, PS Kenya recognizes the role of psychosocial support in complementing clinical care.
Creating opportunities for patients to share experiences and encourage one another can help address the emotional challenges of treatment and reinforce their commitment to completing the prescribed course.

When heavy rains make roads difficult to navigate in Garissa, planning how to reach a health facility can become a critical concern for pregnant women and their families.
Through the Accelerate programme in Garissa County, PS Kenya works with community health volunteers, partners and health facilities to bring maternal health discussions closer to communities during the rainy season.
These conversations help women and their families recognize pregnancy danger signs, understand the importance of antenatal care and facility delivery, and consider how to arrange transport and seek referrals when urgent care is needed.
By addressing the practical barriers families face before an emergency arises, the programme creates opportunities for better birth preparedness and more informed decisions about seeking maternal care, even when weather and road conditions make access difficult.

Misconceptions about contraception can create mistrust between partners and make it harder for couples to discuss family planning openly.
Through the Accelerate programme, PS Kenya engaged men in conversations challenging the belief that women who use contraception are engaging in irresponsible sexual behaviour.
By questioning this assumption, the discussions created space for men to reconsider how they view contraceptive use and its role in reproductive health.
Understanding that choosing contraception is a personal health decision, not a reflection of a woman’s character, can help men approach family planning with greater respect for their partners’ choices.
Engaging men in these conversations is an important step towards relationships where couples can discuss their reproductive health needs openly and make voluntary, informed family planning decisions without stigma or blame.

When young women feel heard and respected, they can ask questions, explore their options and make informed decisions about their health
For Runzy Fellon, a visit to Hope Tunza Medical Centre in Kasabuni, Nairobi, offered an opportunity to discuss family planning openly, feel listened to and make choices with greater confidence.
Her experience highlights why quality healthcare goes beyond providing services. Through its work with the Tunza network, PS Kenya supports approaches that place young people’s needs, respectful counselling and quality of care at the center of service delivery.

A health concern can be frightening, especially when someone is unsure of what comes next.
Support can mean listening without dismissing their worry, encouraging them to seek professional advice, accompanying them when they need you, and checking in afterwards.
You do not need to have all the answers to make someone feel supported.
Sometimes, simply being present can make the journey feel less lonely.

Every breast cancer journey is unique, and everyone affected deserves care, dignity, and support.
This Breast Cancer Awareness Month, PS Kenya joins the call under the 2026 theme, “Every Story is Unique, Every Journey Matters,” to encourage breast health awareness, early detection, and timely access to care.
Know your body, seek medical advice if you notice unusual changes, and encourage those around you to get screened when recommended. Every story matters. Every action counts.

Interpreting malaria test results and deciding on the appropriate next steps are important parts of community-level care.
Community Health Promoters need practical tools that complement their training when managing suspected malaria cases.
In Bungoma, PS Kenya is equipping Community Health Promoters with HealthPulse AI to provide digital decision-support as they interpret malaria test results and determine appropriate next steps for care.
The tool is being introduced into frontline practice, giving CHPs an opportunity to use digital guidance alongside their existing knowledge and experience.
This focuses on a practical challenge in community health delivery: ensuring frontline workers have the information and tools they need when making care decisions.
Through this work, PS Kenya is advancing the use of digital tools in community-level malaria care, with the potential to inform how technology can better serve frontline health workers.
