Yesterday was a special day for our lab. Hana, the very first person to join me on this crazy journey, successfully defended her PhD🥂Incredible privilege to work with this bright mind🧪🔬 and to watch her grow over the 4 years was truly fulfilling. Now go and conquer the world!
Where do the limits of NIR photocages lie? How can we break through them?
Our recent wild and fantastic🏄ride together with @TomSolomek and Sergey Fisher from @HimsUva now published in @ChemicalScience 🤯🧨

Photocages made to order, for🎁EVERYONE🎁Cage highly complex payloads, including clinical pharmaceuticals, in a single step and control them with NIR💡Oh, by the way, we even caged capsaicin for those who really crave that photoactivated curry! Check t.ly/9qBiV
Kasia @Cacatuinaee is on a mitochondria sniping spree🔫🪖 Teaming up with Hana, she upgrades our photocages and simultaneously delivers H2S and a payload with subcellular precision. Of course - using NIR light. Check it out!

Photocage Chameleon: We observe a direct bond scission by a 800 nm photon and we can now uncage alcohols, phenols, thiols and amines. We applied it to regulate the beating rate of human cardiomyocytes with near-infrared light! #cyanines #photocages

Our next paper is nearly ready to come out of the oven. Stay tuned. Powered by #cyanine #photocage 🇨🇭 What is going on in that well-plate?
We've been quiet, but also working hard🙃Fancy SWIR imaging? Explore our🇨🇭recent contribution on deuterated NIR and SWIR fluorophores in a great collaboration with the Caram's 🇺🇸 across the pond @jrcaram @UZH_Chemistry

We've been a bit quiet - the chemistry that is cooking under the lid is not ready just quite yet. In the meantime, our Kasia wins the best poster award of the Visualize Your Science course given by @michal_juricek and @MichelRickhaus Great job, Kasia, and congrats!
