Drew McIntyre just can’t help himself when it comes to CM Punk. Even when the Scottish Warrior tries to give his longtime rival a compliment, he somehow finds a way to turn it into an insult — and this time, Punk’s physique was the target.
While speaking on the Raw Talk podcast, McIntyre discussed his age, physical conditioning and how much longer he plans to wrestle. The 41-year-old explained that people often assume he’s older because he’s been appearing on WWE television for nearly two decades. However, Drew pointed out that he’s still several years younger than veterans like AJ Styles and John Cena, meaning he believes he has plenty of time left in the ring.
That’s when CM Punk’s name came up. McIntyre admitted he’s genuinely surprised Punk is still wrestling at 48 years old and even acknowledged that his rival has improved his physical condition. For a brief moment, it almost sounded like Drew was going to say something nice about Punk. That didn’t last long.
“I’ve still got a few more years in the wrestling first and like you know I’m amazed Punk’s still going. There’s one thing I can compliment him on. He’s 48. He’s still going. And he got himself in better shape.”
McIntyre immediately made sure nobody confused that compliment with actual praise. He clarified that Punk was only in better shape compared to how he looked previously, before delivering a pretty nasty assessment of his rival’s physique.
“I mean, better shape for him. Let’s not go crazy now. He doesn’t look like me. He’s just better shape for him. So skinny, so fat at the same time. Before now, he just got in all right shape.”
But Drew wasn’t finished. He then mocked fans who have praised Punk’s body transformation, suggesting people are getting carried away with how much his rival has improved.
“Everyone’s like, ‘Have you seen the changes? He looks so good.’ I’m like, remember, we’re WWE. Like he’s not walking to Mr. Olympia. He’s like if he walks on to Mr. Bloody Chicago, the local area that he lives in stage, never mind Mr. Olympia.”
The host couldn’t stop laughing at McIntyre’s comments and pointed out how funny his constant shots at Punk have become. Drew, however, insisted he wasn’t trying to be funny.
“Yeah, I hear that a lot. It’s just not intentionally funny. I just tell the truth.”
Of course, McIntyre and Punk have plenty of history. Their rivalry became one of WWE’s most personal feuds in 2024, with both men repeatedly targeting each other through promos, social media posts and physical attacks. Things eventually came to a head when CM Punk defeated Drew McIntyre in their brutal Hell in a Cell match at WWE Bad Blood 2024. McIntyre has also previously insisted that his issues with Punk extend beyond WWE television, so it’s hardly surprising that he’s still finding opportunities to take shots at his former rival.
What makes Drew’s latest comments even funnier is that he’s been going through his own physical transformation while away from WWE. McIntyre revealed in the same interview that he’s now weighing around 285 pounds after working with a personal trainer and changing his diet. He also claims he’s bigger, leaner and moving better than he has in years.
So while Punk has been getting attention for improving his physique, McIntyre apparently thinks the comparisons should stop right there. Drew might be willing to admit Punk looks better than he used to, but he clearly isn’t about to put his rival in the same category as himself. Their WWE rivalry may have ended inside Hell in a Cell, but McIntyre is still taking every opportunity to get one more shot in — even if it’s about Punk’s body.

One popular indie talent who had a WWE tryout was turned down, with WWE telling him he needs to improve his social media presence.
It’s another sign of just how much WWE values a talent’s online presence these days, even before they make it through the door.
More on this coming shortly at @RingsideNews_.

Everybody in my replies is proving why I do this for a living. You’re spending your day reacting to me, arguing with me, screenshotting me and feeding the engagement machine while I turn attention into traffic, revenue and reach.
That’s the part some of you still don’t get: this is literally my business.
So keep typing from the rental, keep calling me irrelevant, and keep boosting the guy you’re supposedly laughing at. You’re doing more for my numbers than you are for your own.”

The number one reason I’m defending @PlatinumMax over his remarks is simple: if wrestlers are afraid they’ll get fired every time they say something controversial, we’re never getting another truly organic promo.
I understand the sensitivity around what he said, and people have every right to be offended. But this is still a TV show built around fake fighting, villains, heat and conflict.
At some point, wrestling has to be willing to take risks instead of sanitizing everything the second people get angry.

You got so cooked on the actual argument you abandoned wrestling entirely and started doing a background check. That’s not a rebuttal, Ted, that’s a panic attack with Wi-Fi. Nobody said Max should face zero consequences. The point is TNA had a heel generate genuine outrage on a scripted television show and chose corporate cleanup over turning it into business. You responding with ‘but your mugshot’ just tells everyone you had absolutely nothing for the point.
Replying to @stevecarrier_ @PlatinumMax
TNA being a TV show doesnt mean he gets to go there and say whatever he wants you fucking idiot. Lmao. I only know who you are because people post your mugshot for your dui and battery charge on here all the time. So I don’t expect you to understand actions having consequences 😂

TNA is a fucking TV show with fake characters doing fake violence in fake storylines. Nobody is asking you to approve of the line in real life. The point is you had instant nuclear heat for a heel and could’ve turned it into an angle. Instead people are acting like Max Caster personally carried out the bombing.

I don't think guy should have lost his job over this! Hip Hop is all about these type of bars, and wrestling needs more of what this guy brings. Too much fake rage costing people their jobs. ringsidenews.com/max-caster-…

No go for @JANELABABY 😭
This dumb piece of shit @JANELABABY always finds his way into my DMs. This time he’s begging me to go on Instagram Live so he can squeeze some views out of it. Then when I don’t give him the attention he wants, he starts talking about taking my girl to dinner.
That part is hilarious because you clearly have no idea who you’re talking about.
She likes expensive-ass Wagyu, nice places, nice things, and she has standards. You dress like you got dressed during a house fire and you’re acting like “I’ll take her to dinner” is some devastating threat.
And here’s the funniest part: she thinks wrestling is stupid shit. She’s not trying to climb the wrestling scene, chase bookings, get backstage, meet wrestlers, or attach herself to whoever can help her career. She doesn’t care about any of that. She has her own life, her own interests, and she doesn’t need anything from wrestling or from you.
And now you’re trying to drag my ex into this too because apparently talking about my current relationship wasn’t enough. That tells me everything. You ran out of anything relevant to say, so now you’re digging through my personal life looking for another button to push.
Leave my ex out of it. She has nothing to do with you, nothing to do with this conversation, and nothing to do with whatever attention grab you’re trying to turn this into.
If you’ve got something to say to me, say it to me.
This whole “I’ll steal your girl” routine isn’t intimidating. It’s embarrassing. You came into my DMs asking for my attention, couldn’t get the reaction you wanted, and now you’re fantasy-booking dinner dates with my girlfriend and dragging my ex into it because you’ve got nothing else.
Worry about getting people to give a shit about your next match before you start worrying about my relationships low IQ sack o shit.
And don’t forget, @JANELABABY: I still own you, @nicklopiccolo owns you, and @Dylan_Bostic already beat the shit out of you at your own GCW show.
You aren’t shit.
