This #MashujaaDay, Kenya honours PACIDA CEO Patrick Katelo as a National Hero for his selfless service to pastoralist communities.
With support from the @NLinKenya through @ProsperGlb_org, PACIDA, under the Range Programme Crisis modifier, conducted an ecological resilience design activity in Ndikir - Laisamis and Olom in Kalacha.
Community members, including men, women, and youth, identified and fenced areas for restoration and learned how to dig and prepare half-moons/water bunds ahead of the anticipated El Niño rains.
Through the Kenya Community Engagement & Resilience Programme, funded by the European Union through the @theGCERF and implemented in partnership with ACT (Act Change Transform) and PACIDA, peace dialogue forums were held in two locations in Marsabit County.
The dialogues convened the Forole & Elle Dimtu Peace Committees & other community representatives in Forole, Maikona, Turbi Ward & Funan Qumbi Peace Committees to discuss peace & security concerns & strengthen peaceful coexistence between the communities.
The environment we live in shapes the health and well-being of the communities around us. Happy #MazingiraDay!
PACIDA facilitated training sessions for two Community Disaster Management Committees (CDMC's) in Maikona and Laisamis wards in Marsabit County through the RANGE Programme Crisis Modifier.
The ultimate objective is to create awareness and enhance overall community preparedness and response to flooding while strengthening the CDMC's capacity to interpret early warning information, develop effective evacuation plans, and communicate emergencies promptly.
Citizen TV features PACIDA's work and amplifies the importance of early action and community-led resilience in preparing for the El Niño rains. This initiative was under the RANGE Programme, funded by the @NLinKenya through Mercy Corps.
