"I hope for NC State that this commitment to football happens. I really want this program to win, and I want the next head coach. I pray for the next head coach that he has that opportunity because it's just not the way it used to be."

Dave Doeren on the NC State and Raleigh media:
"Since so many of the media have so nicely and eloquently critiqued me over my 14 years, I wanted to do a nice reporter-by-reporter critique back to you. I was going to go through your names one by one and put your pictures up and have T-shirts about all of you, but I decided not to do that.
"But maybe later in a podcast down by the river with bottle of bourbon, that's going to happen."
Definitely looking forward to this...

Former NC State head coach Dave Doeren:
"Lastly, in my time, I hope my tenure can be something that our fans and alumni are proud of. In my 14 years, we never broke an NCAA rule. Our team GPA went from a 2.1 to a 3.1. We won 98 games. We packed our stadium, produced over 32 active NFL players, created one pack and powered, partnered and fostered Gigi's Playhouse in Raleigh. 321 coffee, and those participants were a part of our victory today with our team. We beat our rival five years in a row."

Former NC State head coach Dave Doeren: “This is a great job but also a tough job. Pre-NIL, we had a way of developing guys and doing more with less. I loved doing it that way and we were really good at it. You could grow guys up and it changed in a tough way when the portal and NIL came around.”

Former NC State head coach Dave Doeren: “I’ve coached 32 years and have never been unemployed. Waking up to my alarm clock with an empty schedule has been difficult. I love this University, I wanted so badly to lead this program to a championship and I’ll continue to root for next leadership to get there.”
