Are you a clinical psychologist interested in computational modeling? The Niv lab will be looking for a postdoc in computational psychiatry/psychotherapy and we are especially keen on people with a clinical background. Email me with CV & research statement if this is you!
Excited to share our new publication about oscillation dynamics predicting visual bilateral advantage in working memory @UH_Neuro Check out!

Check out our new exciting work about alpha oscillations with @DrGabyCruz @GregorThut
Very excited about this data set and publication in JNS: it provides new clues on alpha rhythms in attention from our most recent combined MEG/EEG study. By and with @DrGabyCruz, Satu and Matias Palva @PalvaLab, Marรญa Melcรณn @mariamelconm et al

#EI #imbalances in brain #disorders link to diverse pathophysiological mechanisms, yet frequency specificity of #EI regulation is unclear. We present the functional #fEI ratio to assess #EI ratio from #oscillations with refined spectral resolution. (1/7) doi.org/10.1162/imag_a_00318

This project is a tour-de-force of our fantastic @vladislav_myrov and collaboration across @AaltoUniversity, @UH_Neuro, @HILIFE_helsinki and @CCNi_UofG. We are truly grateful for the support from @SuomenAkatemia @SigridJuselius without which this research would not have happened
Finally, we extended the pACF approach into the time-frequency domain to analyze event-related modulations in rhythmicity and found that rhythmicity indeed was modulated during the visual task with dynamics distinct from those of stimulus locking and amplitude changes.
We then asked whether highly rhythmic oscillations would be better able to synchronize between brain areas. Indeed, we found a strong positive correlation between local rhythmicity and inter-areal synchronization both in silico and in vivo..
We also found that some rhythmicity spectra showed single and others multiple peaks and their cortical topographies were different in alpha and beta frequency bands. Thus unimodal and cross-frequency bimodal oscillations are unique characteristics of specific circuitries
